Overview of Position

The AVP, Investor Relations is a senior enterprise leader responsible for executing Assurant’s investor relations strategy and serving as a highly visible advisor to executive leadership. This role requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong executive presence, and the ability to translate complex financial and strategic information into clear, compelling narratives for sophisticated internal and external audiences.

The AVP acts as a strategic change agent within the Investor Relations function, proactively shaping and evolving Assurant’s long-term equity narrative, elevating messaging standards, modernizing investor engagement approaches, and strengthening the company’s credibility and differentiation within the investment community.

This role partners closely with the VP, Investor Relations and other key stakeholders to ensure disciplined, high-quality execution of external financial communications that support Assurant’s long-term value creation.

Success in this role will be measured by enhanced investor confidence, increased clarity and differentiation of Assurant’s equity story, strengthened executive effectiveness in external engagements, and continuous elevation of the Investor Relations function toward best-in-class public company standards.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

Investor Relations Strategy, Messaging & Market Insight

  • Lead execution and continuous refinement of the enterprise investor relations strategy in alignment with Assurant’s long term value creation objectives, financial performance, and capital allocation priorities.

  • Architect and steward of Assurant’s equity story, ensuring clarity, consistency, strategic differentiation, and credibility across all external financial communications.

  • Analyze investor sentiment, shareholder composition, peer positioning, and capital markets dynamics; synthesize insights and provide clear, actionable recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Provide forward-looking market perspective to influence enterprise decisionmaking, capital allocation positioning, and strategic communication priorities.

  • Translate complex financial, operational, and strategic concepts into clear, compelling narratives for the investment community.

Executive Advisory, Earnings & Investor Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, coaching and preparing executives for investor meetings, earnings calls, roadshows, and conferences.

  • Own day-to-day leadership of the quarterly earnings process in partnership with the VP, Investor Relations, ensuring narrative clarity, strategic Revision Date- March 2026 2 alignment, regulatory compliance, and flawless execution across all deliverables.

  • Lead the development and review of earnings-related materials, including presentations, executive talking points, scripts, and Q&A, ensuring compliance with disclosure requirements.

  • Lead and participate in senior-level engagement with institutional investors and sell-side analysts, representing the company with credibility and executive presence as part of the enterprise engagement strategy.

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex or sensitive investor inquiries, reinforcing credibility and executive presence in all external interactions.

  • Provide investor and capital markets insights to executive leadership and, as appropriate, to the Board of Directors to inform strategic discussions and governance considerations.

Change Leadership, Cross-Functional Partnership & Function Evolution

  • Champion the modernization and evolution of the Investor Relations function, aligning capabilities, tools, analytics, and engagement strategies with best-in class public company practices and emerging investor expectations.

  • Drive adoption of new processes, tools, and best practices that elevate the quality, efficiency, and strategic impact of Investor Relations.

  • Partner closely with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Strategy to ensure investor messaging accurately reflects enterprise performance and priorities.

  • Ensure investor relations considerations are integrated into major enterprise actions, including earnings evolution, M&A activity, capital actions, proxy matters, and other material disclosures.

  • Facilitate clear, timely information flow between internal stakeholders and the Investor Relations function.

Leadership & Functional Stewardship

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching within the investor relations function.

  • Contribute to the evolution and scalability of the IR organization, including readiness to assume direct people leadership responsibilities as the function evolves.

  • Leads and coordinates Investor Relations initiatives and projects, including cross-functional workstreams, external advisors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and timelines.

Travel Up to 25%

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 10 + years of experience in investor relations, finance, communications, or a related external market-facing role.

  • Strong working knowledge of capital markets, financial statements, and investor relations best practices

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to convey complex financial and strategic concepts clearly and persuasively.

  • Demonstrated experience engaging directly with institutional investors and sell-side analysts in a public company environment.

  • Demonstrated executive presence required to credibly advise senior executives and represent the company with institutional investors, analysts, and other stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to lead through change and drive adoption of new approaches and ways of working.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize market and financial data into clear insights and recommendations.

  • Track record of credibility with executive leadership and the external investment community.

  • Strong understanding of capital markets dynamics, valuation frameworks, and shareholder composition.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Prior experience supporting public company earnings and investor engagement.

  • Experience partnering cross-functionally across Finance, Legal, Communications, and Strategy.

Pay Range:

$122,400.00 - $204,400.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
