About This Role

The Jenni Kayne Associate Buyer & Planner will support all Jenni Kayne categories including Home with a focus on Apparel, Shoes, and Accessories while reporting to the Director of Buying and Planning.  This role is part of a small team with the opportunity to interact closely with all team members both within Buying as well as cross-functionally.  It is perfect for someone highly organized who is comfortable in Excel and is looking to further expand their skillset in this area.   

Role and Responsibilities

As the Jenni Kayne Associate Buyer & Planner, your primary responsibilities include the following: 

  • Ensure the Jenni Kayne retail buying administrative processes are exceptionally executed, with accurate data entered in software systems and buy related information effectively communicated to store teams as well as relevant corporate parties 
  • Accurately enter all third-party purchasing activities in Netsuite as needed; ensure data for all inputs is meticulously managed and is thoughtfully entered to facilitate clear reporting for business analysis.  Required data entry and execution of financial accountability processes include: 
  • Purchase order entry at the style, color, size level for PO uploads 
  • New item set up, existing item maintenance as needed 
  • Manage third party purchase order invoicing and payment as well as partnering with the receiving team to prepare for inbound shipments 
  • Management of discrepancies on invoices and/or POs including communication with vendor at time order is placed or before order arrives for receiving inventory 
  • Drive initial allocation process including store and size breakdowns for all third-party purchases order for retail and e-com orders 
  • Partner with buying team to create, update and distribute quarterly product receipt deck to communicate all new goods, order quantities, and key dates to store, marketing, and warehouse teams 
  • Partner with buying team to create and maintain seasonal buy plan files to manage seasonal new and reorder assortment 
  • Manage sample coordination process including communication with production and marketing teams to prepare JK and 3rd party samples of all seasonal styles for marketing and product shoot. Request samples by required deadlines, organize and store samples as needed, and return to third party vendors on time. 
  • Create buy calendar Outlook events including all appropriate parties prior to each season based off deadlines on company calendar. 
  • Participate in analyzing sales and inventory levels in season on a weekly basis at department/category/style/item level and drive actions to maximize sales. 
  • Participate in preparation of monthly fast-sell meeting with business insights, highlights and actionable items.  Assist with presenting seasonal sales, sell-thru, OH and suggest marketing initiatives. Review marketing calendar at item level and consider if re-allocation is needed.  
  • Develop strong relationships with marketing, e-commerce, store and warehouse teams: effectively communicate and understand each team’s processes and needs and help to establish efficient processes related to inventory management aimed at maximizing sales and gross margin performance. 
  • Track freight payments and request quotes prior to shipment for international vendors or large orders to ensure competitive pricing is received. 
  • Assist with executing price changes in Netsuite to adjust pricing at style level; communicate to stores, Ecom, and warehouse teams to ensure changed in all areas 
  • Work with buying, warehouse, finance teams and stores/Ecom to support the execution of strategy initiatives including sample sale and promo 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 2-3 years retail buying and/or planning experience 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Netsuite is a plus 
  • Knowledge of basic retail math formulas and calculations 
  • Ability to multi task, meet deadlines and ensure accurate completion of assigned tasks 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented 
  • Motivated and experienced working with minimal supervision 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Physical requirements

  • Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.)
  • Long hours using computer keyboard and monitor

The base salary is determined by experience, education, skills, and location.
