GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION 

Manage on-going global and/or regional commodities in support of the Senior Category Manager. Identify and engage with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, and quality) to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality. Support negotiations and supplier selection. Responsible for less complex negotiating, and supplier coordination. Advises on options risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts. Support region/sector NPD Procurement teams through preferred supplier programs and strategy development. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES 

  • Manages day to day category supplier relations and seeks out growth or revision opportunities within supply base.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, quality) to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality - partner with regional PPM teams to efficiently transition suppliers as needed 
  • Under the direction of Category Manager assist with developing & executing detailed commodity strategy: 
  • Assess Opportunity for commodity including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis 
  • Accountable for execution of sourcing projects including continuous improvement, consolidation, etc. 
  • Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection- accountable for contract lifecycle management and compliance 
  • Responsible for delivering commodity productivity through price negotiations, supporting value analysis/ value engineering projects (VA/VE or i2V) and other continuous improvement projects. 
  • Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within commodity.
  • Support commodity continuity of supply - engage with plants to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues. 
  • Support region/sector NPD Procurement teams through preferred supplier programs and RFQ's. 
  • Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation 
  • Lead periodic Commodity Reviews including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and countermeasures

 

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB 

Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field.

Experience:  

  • 3 + years procurement sourcing experience, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience.
  • Demonstrate competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors. 
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation and conflict resolution skills 
  • Professional communication; both verbal and written are required. 
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

  • Project Management – Review and approve project plans, oversees project execution, balances projects between short and long-term focus, secures alignment with cross-functional partners.
  • Global Business Thinking/Strategizing-Demonstrates deep global knowledge of suppliers, industry trends, emerging markets and technology, builds this knowledge into GSC strategies/playbooks, develops global talent.  
  • Problem Solving—Identifies/anticipates potential problems, supports root cause analysis, evaluates robustness of corrective action plan and oversees plan implementation.
  • Relationship Management – Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds/maintains relationship with industry peers and suppliers.
  • Excellent technical, analytical problem solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions.  
  • Experienced in applying and understanding the results of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. 
  • This position may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch as needed. 
  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
