The Associate Copywriter will draft and edit marketing copy for various channels, focusing on engagement and brand voice while collaborating with team members.

About the Role
We are looking for an Associate Copywriter who will work collaboratively part of the marketing team and will be responsible for drafting and editing copy, utilizing and maintaining the brand voice, for email, promotions, SMS, direct mail, and other channels as required. Primary focus will be email, promotional, and retention marketing copy.
What You’ll Do
- Email copywriting including subject lines, preview text, and body copy leveraging performance insights to optimize open and clickthrough rates.
- SMS, MMS, web push, and app push copywriting focused on driving engagement and conversion.
- Maintain and refresh triggered flow copy on a seasonal basis, ensuring subject lines, preview text, body copy, SMS messages, and app push notifications stay current with active promotions, codes, and brand priorities.
- Partner closely with Retention Marketing team to continually incorporate insights and learnings.
- Work collaboratively with Graphic Designer and other marketing team members to ensure marketing efforts are on brand and delivered on time
- Weekend and other special drop copywriting (brand collabs, key weekday drops, etc.) including collection and shop launch naming and taglines
- Writing copy for daily promotions across channels
- Support retail marketing needs, e.g. copywriting for emails and print materials
- Writing paid and organic social media captions as needed
- Maintaining and updating VICI’s brand copy bank
- Ongoing competitor copy review and sourcing inspiration, specifically for email and for other channels as required
- Potential copywriting for future marketing channels
- May support other ad-hoc marketing projects
- Continuously learn and adapt copy to maximize engagement and conversion based on results and best practices
- Utilize performance data (e.g. open rates, conversion) to inform copy development –review and assess performance to inform copy direction
What We’re Looking For
- Outstanding grammar required. This role requires a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
- Strong interest in performance-driven copywriting. Internship or brand experience with email, ecommerce, or marketing copy strongly preferred.
- Skilled at communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; strong ability to craft customer-facing communications in brand tone of voice.
- Experience or strong demonstrated experience in apparel/fashion brands and styling.
- Excellent time management and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.
- Ability to work positively and collaboratively with different groups within the company to advance the company’s stability and growth.
- Be self-motivated and work effectively in a team environment.
- Skilled at communicating clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to proofread own and others’ work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; willingness to think out-of-the-box to resolve issues.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Mac and Google products, standard applications (Slack, Office365, Chrome, etc.).
- Experience using Figma, Canva, Klaviyo, Shopify, and Asana would be a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, English, or related field preferred.
- Internship or professional experience email copywriting, promotional copywriting, or retail/fashion marketing required. Strong writing samples required.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week
- Hybrid schedule: In-office Tuesday through Thursday in Walnut Creek, CA
- Primarily desk and computer-based work
- Occasional lifting or moving materials up to 20 pounds
