Job Description

Visa is seeking an attorney to join the Visa’s Legal Ethics & Compliance team supporting the Marketing Services team, which provides marketing, consulting and creative services to clients and partners. As Associate Counsel, you will report to the Senior Managing Counsel, Marketing Legal, and serve as a proactive business partner who delivers practical, business‑aligned legal guidance.

In this position, you will primarily: draft, review, and negotiate marketing‑related agreements, review marketing communications and creative assets, advise on client, partner, and agency contracts, and develop templates, playbooks, and processes. You will help ensure compliance, mitigate legal and reputational risks, and enable the Marketing Services team to execute creative, impactful work with clarity and confidence.

JOB SCOPE

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of marketing‑related agreements, including client, partner, and agency contracts.
  • Review marketing communications, creative assets, campaign materials, and content for legal risk, accuracy of claims, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop templates, playbooks, workflows, and process improvements to enable operational efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Provide guidance on marketing, advertising, promotions, offers, sweepstakes, and contests.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Marketing Services team by delivering timely, actionable, and business‑centered legal counsel.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners, outside counsel and external agencies.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously under tight timelines, while maintaining high quality and responsiveness.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications
3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 152,900.00 to 237,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
