Company Overview: Terray Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotechnology company led by pioneers and long-time leaders in artificial intelligence, synthetic chemistry, automation, and nanotechnology. We’re generating chemical data purpose-built to propel drug discovery into the information age — and we’re doing it on a larger scale and faster than has ever before been possible.

Our closed loop system generates precise chemical datasets at unrivaled scale that work seamlessly with AI to systematically map biochemical interactions between small molecules and causes of disease. Iterative cycles of virtual molecular design and experimentation power AI and machine learning models, which in turn guide the next cycle of design. With a chemistry engine that measures billions of interactions daily and becomes increasingly precise with every cycle, we can answer an unprecedented array of questions — deriving insights that enable us to predictably create drugs for patients in need.

Position Summary: Terray Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, Product Management to lead the product vision and execution for tDesign – an internal platform that serves as the central interface for our small molecule drug discovery programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this is a highly visible role where you will operate at the strategic center of the company, influencing how our science and technology converge to solve complex problems. You will empower our medicinal chemists and molecular design scientists by giving them intuitive access to our proprietary AI models through automated workflows and drug discovery agents. Concurrently, you will work with our ML engineers, software engineers, and other computational scientists to translate complex drug discovery needs into a seamless user experience that accelerates our ability to find novel cures.

The core responsibilities of this position are:

  • Strategic Product Leadership: Own the product lifecycle for tDesign, defining a roadmap that aligns with Terray’s high-level scientific and business goals. You will present regularly to executive leadership and key stakeholders on product impact and strategy.
  • User-Centric Design: Deeply understand the workflows of medicinal chemists, molecular design scientists, and small molecule program leads to improve and build features that solve real friction points in the design-make-test-analyze (DMTA) cycle. Translate complex internal scientific tools into intuitive, resilient user experiences suitable for broader deployment beyond the original development context.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Act as the primary bridge between our scientific stakeholders and our engineering/AI teams. Partner with scientific stakeholders to ensure technical specifications accurately translate and support biological and chemical realities and drive alignment across the organization.
  • Agent & Workflow Integration: Lead the integration of new AI agents and automated workflows into the UI, making advanced computational tools accessible to non-computational experts.
  • Adoption & Efficacy: Monitor user engagement and program success metrics to continuously iterate on the platform. Apply SaaS product principles to ensure tDesign remains the "command center" for all small molecule programs.

Experience and Qualifications: Part of Terray’s success is nurtured by a hands-on work environment where everyone is accountable, vested in a vision of excellence, and actively taking part in the success of the business. Terray supports a positive work environment where employees can feel engaged, recognized and empowered to be creative.

Required Qualifications:

  • Software Product Excellence: Proven experience (5+ years) managing complex, high-technical software products in a tech-first, SaaS, or high-growth environment. We value strong product fundamentals (discovery, definition, execution) over specific life sciences domain expertise.
  • Internal Tools Experience: Demonstrated success building and managing complex internal tools or platforms used by highly technical teams.
  • Technical Fluency: Ability to grasp complex AI/ML/computational concepts and translate them into user-facing features (e.g., visualizing model confidence, managing inference workflows).
  • Execution Focus: A track record of shipping highly reliable, robust software in an agile environment, balancing long-term vision with immediate scientific needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enterprise Product Expansion: Experience transitioning complex internal tools into external-facing enterprise products, including scoping requirements, defining SLAs, and managing expectations for sophisticated external clients (such as large pharmaceutical or enterprise partners).
  • Secure Infrastructure & Deployment: Proven ability to partner closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps teams to architect and deliver highly available software. Familiarity with the technical and operational nuances of deploying applications into diverse, secure, or client-hosted cloud environments (e.g., secure VPCs).
  • Data Governance & Security: Deep understanding of best practices surrounding data privacy, security, and enterprise governance, specifically concerning the ingestion, segregation, and management of highly sensitive, proprietary third-party datasets.
  • Long-Term Product Strategy: The ability to balance the immediate, fast-paced needs of internal scientific stakeholders with the architectural and UX requirements needed to eventually support a broader, external user base.

Compensation Details: $195,000 - $294,000 (annually) depending on experience; participation in the Company's option plan; 3% retirement safe harbor contribution; fully-paid medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits; and much more.
