What we do:

The Associate Manager, Revenue Accounting will support the revenue accounting function in Ventura or Los Angeles, California, including the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 606), guiding a team of revenue accountants, collaborating cross-functionally, and providing accurate revenue reporting for financial statements while maintaining internal controls and compliance standards for a public company.

This role reports directly to the Manager, Revenue Accounting, and will assist in maintaining a world-class revenue accounting function. Primary responsibilities include supporting day-to-day operations, assisting in the development of the revenue accounting team in a fast paced and hyper-growth environment, contributing to the ongoing improvements in the global revenue accounting function, and helping ensure timely and accurate month-end and quarter-end close processes.

What you'll do:

  • Actively participate in and support the monthly, quarterly and year-end global revenue accounting close process.
  • Own specific areas of revenue accounting, including review of journal entries, reconciliations and financial reporting and disclosure deliverables.
  • Maintain deferred revenue and/or reserves/allowance schedules, investigate fluctuations, apply critical judgement, and participate in the associated accounting processes.
  • Design, implement, and document processes related to revenue transactions and reporting. Recommend improvements to reports and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Ensure adherence to and proper documentation of SOX processes and internal controls related to order-to-cash.
  • Manage and prioritize the day-to-day operations and ad-hoc requests of the Revenue Accounting team.
  • Mentor, supervise and provide guidance to revenue accountants.
  • Foster and maintain a work environment that aligns with The Trade Desk culture, promoting accountability and growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Credit & Collections, Deal Desk, FP&A, Billings, Technical Accounting, among others) to ensure all transactions and processes are completed accurately and in accordance with accounting practices.
  • Partner with external auditors to ensure timely and efficient audits.
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects, as needed.

Who you are: 

  • Minimum 4-6 years of accounting experience, including public accounting and/or public company industry experience
  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience is a plus. Revenue Accounting experience is a plus.
  • A four-year degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GL operational accounting. 
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communications, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks across stakeholders and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Experience with an ERP system (Oracle Cloud experience a plus)

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.  Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$85,300$156,400 USD
