Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SIWS) is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Level 1 or 2) specializing in Electrical manufacturing to support production activities in El Segundo, CA.
This role focuses on developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for electrical and electronic assemblies, ensuring quality, producibility, and cost-effective production. The position requires hands-on, on-site engagement and periodic travel to supplier locations.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for electrical/electronic assemblies, printed circuit board (PCB) production, harnessing/ wiring, and electronic box builds
  • Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation: process flows, work instructions, assembly guides, routings, tooling specifications, and process control plans
  • Lead process validations, first-article inspections, failure investigations, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Interface with design engineering, quality, procurement, test engineering, and production teams to resolve manufacturability and producibility issues
  • Define and specify manufacturing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and test equipment; support procurement and supplier integration
  • Support production ramps, capacity planning, and troubleshooting on the shop floor to ensure schedule and quality targets are met
  • Conduct supplier visits and audits to qualify and improve supplier manufacturing and processes; provide technical support and transfer production requirements
  • Implement and sustain Lean and Six Sigma practices to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality
  • Ensure compliance with Boeing manufacturing standards, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Mentor and train production and supplier personnel on processes, work instructions, and best practices

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+ years' experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design
  • 2+ years' experience defining process flows, process diagrams, and process documentation
  • Familiarity with soldering processes, automated assembly (pick-and-place, reflow), conformal coating, cable/harness assembly, and electronic test methodologies
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestically

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with cable/harness assembly methodologies
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), MIL-STD, and DFx/ DFMA for electronics
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or Manufacturing Engineering certifications
  • Experience with test fixture design, automated test equipment (ATE), and environmental/EMC test support
  • Prior experience with supplier development and qualification programs

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Associate (Level 1) Summary Pay Range: $76,500 - $103,500
Associate (Level 2) Summary Pay Range: $90,950 - $123,050
