The Role:

We are hiring an investment associate to focus on the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem. As a “full stack” investor, you will be responsible for engaging across the investment lifecycle. Responsibilities include:

  • Thesis development - create and refine investment roadmaps to guide firm strategy, stay updated on industry developments. 
  • Sourcing - identify and build relationships with promising founders, teams, and startups. Embed yourself in the ecosystem. 
  • Due diligence - lead financial analysis and diligence on customers, products, technology, teams, and markets.
  • Investment recommendations - form judgements and present analyses and opinions to help drive investment decisions.
  • Portfolio Support - assist portfolio companies with introductions, strategy, hiring, resources, and more. Attend board meetings.  

This role will report to Talia Goldberg. You will work closely with her, but also receive mentorship from other senior partners and team members at Bessemer. We will invest heavily in your development and growth. 

We are looking for someone with an exceptional work ethic that is entrepreneurial, curious, resourceful, and competitive. The right candidate will be able to take full ownership of programs and initiatives when necessary, but also willing to tackle any task, no matter how big or small, and pursue unconventional ideas.  

  • Ideal start date: Q1 2026 (flexible).
  • Location: San Francisco, CA
About You:
  • AI native: constantly using and experimenting with cutting edge products, technologies and models. 
  • Professional experience: Ideally 2-4+ years of relevant professional experience in an operating role at a startup, as a founder, scientist, technologist, or investor. Backgrounds with a PhD are also welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Technical experience: ideally degree(s) or self-taught expertise in computer science, mathematics, machine learning, engineering, or related. Exceptions will be considered for exceptional candidates. 
  • Independent thinker, fast learner 
  • Great at connecting with founders
  • Self-driven, proactive doer
  • Commercial mindset, love thinking about businesses and technology 
  • Based in the Bay Area, in office 3 to 4+ days per week  

No prior investing experience required. 

Compensation & benefits
  • Base Salary Range: $175,000–$225,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual Performance Bonus 
  • Opportunity to participate in the firm’s shadow carry structure and share in the long-term success of our investments.
