Position Summary

Brown Advisory’s New York Office is seeking a proactive and professional individual to serve as an Associate Portfolio Manager as part of our Investment Solutions Group. This individual will report directly to our Chief Investment Officer for our Private Client Business. Due to the complex nature of clients’ investment objectives and related service needs, Associate Portfolio Managers must be well versed in a broad range of investment disciplines and strategies. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, sophistication, and flexibility in understanding and implementing diverse investment strategies.

The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in portfolio management activities for large, sophisticated family office and endowment clients; each subject to the customized investment needs of the client. Services include, but are not limited to, management of liquidity needs, analysis of equity, fixed income, and opportunistic alternative investments as appropriate.

  • Become deeply versed in the client's portfolio investments including hedge funds and private equity and provide research insights to clients as needed.

  • Analyze complex financial information and ensure that portfolio managers have adequate information to perform daily portfolio management duties (strong focus on various information systems).

  • Work directly with the CIO and Head of Investment Solutions to support portfolio construction process, including designing search mandates, recommending optimal manager weightings, evaluating risk exposures, etc.

  • Oversee development of materials for clients and other investment review committees as necessary for managers/strategies in assigned coverage area

  • Perform detailed analyses of both existing and prospective client investment portfolios and create client-specific materials and reports.

  • Assist in the management of all aspects of client relationships, including trading, reporting, communication, and coordination with Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Analysts, ISG Research Team, and Messaging. 

  • Attend all ISG manager research and asset allocation meetings and develop a strong knowledge of our investment process and platform.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis on both investment managers and asset allocation topics.

  • Establish strong working relationships with team members in the New York office and throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience within the finance industry preferred.

  • MBA or progress towards CFA designation is desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg, FactSet, Charles River, APX is a plus.

  • Ability to multi-task, to establish priorities, and to work both independently and within a small team environment.

  • Ability to handle confidential material with utmost discretion.

  • A passion for financial markets

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work in our New York office five days a week

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B , O-1, F-1 (OPT), TN, or any other non-immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship).

Salary: $140-$165k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility, which are applicable for this role.
