Support VP of Strategic Finance and C-suite with financial reporting, budgeting, cash forecasting, KPI monitoring, cross-functional financial analysis, business cases, and support for M&A, fundraising, and due diligence.
The Role
Gotham Greens is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Strategic Finance Associate to join our team. This role is critical in supporting the company’s financial strategy, decision-making processes, and long-term planning. As a Strategic Finance Associate, you will work closely with senior leadership, providing insights that drive growth, optimize resource allocation, and enhance financial performance. The position will work on projects ranging from financial planning & analysis, business operations, fundraising and M&A.
What You’ll Do
- Cross-functional role supporting Vice President of Strategic Finance and the C-suite, with high degree of interaction with and exposure to executive leadership
- Prepare ongoing management financial reporting (i.e. P&L, variance vs. budget, KPI monitoring, management discussion & analysis) for the executive team, investors, lenders and other stakeholders, in close collaboration with Accounting organization
- Own and operate the company’s financial model; perform cash forecasting and annual budgeting
- Collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, in close collaboration with Operations organization
- Serve as a liaison between Finance and other departments (i.e. Operations, Sales, Growing etc.) to provide financial leverage / support to analyze business needs from a financial lens by creating detailed business cases to evaluate and support overall corporate strategy, enhance productivity and ensure effectiveness of business processes (i.e. ROI, sensitivity analyses, new product costing etc.)
- Provide support to corporate development efforts including analysis and due diligence on new business opportunities, M&A, debt and equity fundraising, and special projects.
- Own and maintain due diligence process with prospective investors / financing sources
Who You Are
- 1+ years’ experience at top tier-investment bank, management consulting firm, or similar.
- 1+ years’ experience within a disruptive growth stage business, preferably within the CPG industry and/or other high tech enabled manufacturing businesses
- Advanced Excel skills: demonstrated ability to create and manage complicated spreadsheets; advanced knowledge of excel function
- Ability and experience working collaboratively to build and apply financial concepts to solve cross-functional problems and build relationships as a value-add finance partner to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to think outside the box both critically and strategically.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box given uncertain set of constraints
- M&A, capital markets and valuation experience preferred.
- Understanding of general accounting concepts including GAAP and cost accounting
- Familiarity with accounting tools and systems e.g. Oracle (ERP) a plus but not required
- Experience or interest in joining a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment rapidly disrupting the traditional market for fresh sustainably produced food.
