The Data Office has been recognized as an essential strategic partner, playing a pivotal role in the success of our growth and profitability initiatives across USRM's Personal and Business Lines organizations.
The USRM Data Office is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and technically skilled product management professional to join us as Product Owner for the Personal Lines Product, Pricing, and Underwriting data domain. In this role, you'll lead the charge on data transformation efforts, helping accelerate how we bring products to market. You'll partner closely with our Technology teams, squads, and stakeholders to align priorities and drive impact across multiple teams - both within the Data Office and the broader USRM organization - as we continue modernizing our analytics and reporting capabilities.
Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate product vision: Collaborates with stakeholders to shape product vision and roadmap aligned with strategic priorities and communicates it clearly across squads/teams assigned.
  • Own the product backlog: Owns, prioritizes, and maintains the product backlog, ensuring clear, actionable user stories that drive squad execution.
  • Drive planning and delivery: Leads quarterly and sprint planning, sets stakeholder expectations for delivery, and communicates the value delivered each iteration.
  • Support the squad/team: Works daily with the agile team to clarify requirements, remove roadblocks, resolve issues quickly, and keep everyone aligned on strategy.
  • Manage product health and performance: Tracks product KPIs, monitors product health and long-term viability, and evaluates feasibility, cost, and trade-offs of potential changes.
  • Ensure compliance and alignment: Understands regulatory and compliance constraints and negotiates priorities across teams to keep execution aligned with business goals; leads customer research to inform design decisions.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and/or certifications (PMP, CAPM, PMI, etc.).
  • Strong aptitude working with the quote/policy data lifecycle and financial premium and loss data preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting. Ideally experience includes manipulating and querying data and comprehension of complex data models.
  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate Stakeholders on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills. Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily. Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
  • Experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry is preferred, along with a working knowledge of risk and pricing concepts. A strong experimental mindset with the ability to drive innovation and make sound decisions amid uncertainty.

This position requires two in-office days per week for candidates who reside within 50 miles of Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, or Portsmouth, NH.
Qualifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience in communicating recommendations to senior business leaders preferred
  • BA/BS, or relevant work experience, in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative discipline strongly preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience working in coding and data solutions design principles, particularly in open source tools and technology

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
