The Automation Engineer will design and implement automation systems, optimize manufacturing processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on engineering solutions.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our team in developing and implementing process automation systems. In this role, you will design, integrate, and optimize automated solutions that improve manufacturing processes, reduce manual effort, and increase production efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, equipment vendors, and software engineers, to bring innovative automation solutions from concept to implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom mechanical components and systems for automated equipment and processes.
- Develop detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs for mechanical systems.
- Collaborate on selecting and specifying automation components (motors, drives, PLCs, vision systems, etc.).
- Participate in the full automation lifecycle—from concept, prototyping, and testing to deployment and maintenance.
- Optimize existing automation systems to improve cycle time, reliability, and ergonomics.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety reviews, and ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO, OSHA).
- Support debugging and troubleshooting during system commissioning and production ramp-up.
- Document design specifications, validation plans, and system performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 - 10+ years of experience in automation system design, mechanical engineering, or industrial equipment development.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) and mechanical simulation tools.
- Experience with industrial automation hardware (PLCs, HMIs, servos, sensors, etc.).
- Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to mechanical and system integration challenges.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
