  • Approve deals within assigned authority limits, ensuring timely and accurate decision-making.
  • Manage underwriter productivity, including coaching and mentoring on desk management skills for both generalist and specialty underwriters.
  • Analyze production, profitability, business mix, and underwriter productivity across industries, lines, and branches, and develop actions to improve results.
  • Collaborate with CI Field Underwriting and Distribution partners to develop and implement local market tactics.
  • Partner with Distribution on sales execution, agency management, and agency communications.
  • Ensure adherence to audit and compliance requirements, including self-audits for matrixed underwriters.
  • Contribute to talent management for matrixed staff, including performance assessments and compensation planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Travel as needed.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in commercial lines new business underwriting, along with the ability to operate effectively across multiple disciplines. The following skills are required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including a strong working knowledge of multi-line and monoline product offerings.
  • Proven record of teamwork, leadership, and integrity in building and sustaining internal and external relationships to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to apply technical, analytical, and underwriting decision-making skills to coach and develop others effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in driving business results through producer and sales management skills.
  • Experience developing and executing business plans.
