We are hiring an experienced Billing Specialist who thrives in a collaborative environment, working across multiple home care agencies to manage their billing lifecycle. This position plays a critical role in supporting home care service delivery by agencies, as it provides accurate and timely reimbursement for the important care they provide in home and communities. 
Strong candidates will understand medical billing practices, insurance payments, and reimbursement processes.  Communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also a must to succeed in this position. 

For candidates residing near our Midtown Manhattan or Bloomington, MN office locations, this position with be hybrid, with an on-site presence required 3 days per week to support team collaboration. This position is open remotely to candidates residing in eastern and central time zones.

Essential Job Duties

  • Billing Cycle Management: Generate and submit claims to insurance companies, government programs, and other payers for services provided to patients.
  • Utilize agency management software to accomplish billing tasks efficiently.
  • Payment Posting: Record and post payments received from insurance companies, patients and other sources to the appropriate patient accounts in the billing system.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and follow-up on unpaid claims, rejections/denials, and any outstanding balances to ensure timely collections.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies or denial to facilitate reimbursement
  • Collaborate with payers to address claim disputes.
  • Home Health Agency knowledge: Understanding the processes and requirements related to exchanging health care information with Home Health Agencies, including compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Reconciliation: Performing regular reconciliation of accounts receivable records with payments received to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Communication: Collaborating with other departments and agencies to resolve billing and payment issues and improve processes.
  • Reporting: Generating reports on billing and AR performance, including key metrics and KPIs.
  • Effective communication with team members and management.
  • Obtain and maintain an understanding of customers’ objectives and goals.

Other Job Duties

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or HHAeXchange leader.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel

Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills

  • High school diploma required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 3+ years of RCM experience in the homecare industry preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Teams
  • Strategic and creative mindset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solver
  • Self-starter and team player

The base wage range for this US-based, full-time, and non-exempt position is $22.00-24.00 per hour. An employee’s exact starting wage will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
