COMPANY OVERVIEW

TechTorch is a leader in delivering innovative Enterprise Technology solutions, leveraging AI-powered accelerators to drive measurable business success for Private Equity-backed companies. Our experts specialize in Commercial Excellence (Lead-to-Cash, Quote-to-Cash), Data & Business Intelligence, and AI-enabled transformations. We are disrupting the system integration space by building high-performing delivery teams that create lasting value for PE portfolio companies.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Analyst (Data Practice) bridges the gap between business strategy and data delivery. You will operate at the intersection of client stakeholders and technical data teams, translating business problems into data use cases and ensuring that the right questions are being asked before a single line of code is written. This is not a back-office analyst role — you will be a visible, client-facing contributor who drives discovery, shapes data requirements, and accelerates delivery on enterprise data, BI, and AI initiatives for PE-backed organizations.

We are looking for professionals with a consulting foundation (e.g., Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, or similar) who bring dual fluency: a strong grasp of business value outcomes and an applied understanding of how data is structured, modeled, and visualized. You do not need to be a data engineer, but you must be able to identify data quality issues, engage confidently with technical teams, and articulate KPI requirements to both C-suite stakeholders and data architects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Requirements & Business Translation

  • Engage with client stakeholders across business functions to identify data needs, KPI definitions, and reporting objectives.

  • Translate business problems into structured data use cases, defining the questions that analytics and BI deliverables must answer.

  • Document data requirements, business rules, and logic in formats accessible to both business and technical team members.

  • Identify upstream data issues (poor data models, aggregation inconsistencies, hierarchy mismatches) that affect downstream reliability.

Data Analysis & Insight Delivery

  • Perform data profiling and validation to assess data quality and flag issues for data engineering and architecture teams.

  • Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations (Tableau, Power BI) that communicate findings to executive and operational stakeholders.

  • Analyze trends and patterns across client datasets to surface actionable insights in support of EBITDA improvement and revenue growth goals.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all analytical outputs through structured QA processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between client business units, TechTorch delivery managers, and technical data teams.

  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders on data definitions, reporting priorities, and success metrics.

  • Communicate project progress, data risks, and issue resolution clearly and proactively to all stakeholders.

  • Build trusted relationships with client contacts, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable and credible data partner.

Solution Design Support

  • Collaborate with data engineers and architects on source-to-target mappings and conceptual data model reviews — you identify the problem, specialists solve it.

  • Contribute to functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for BI and data platform builds.

  • Support UAT and post-deployment validation to confirm solutions meet business requirements.

Process & Delivery Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate client data processes to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities.

  • Contribute to TechTorch's internal knowledge base, documenting reusable frameworks and lessons learned.

  • Support delivery managers in tracking milestones, managing scope, and coordinating cross-functional workstreams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree a plus.

Experience

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience, ideally gained at a management consulting firm (Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, or equivalent) or a professional services organization specializing in data.

  • Demonstrable experience on business intelligence, data visualization, or AI-adjacent delivery projects.

  • Exposure to multi-geography or multi-level data complexity (e.g., consolidating data across business units, regions, or enterprise systems).

  • Experience working on Commercial Excellence, ERP, CRM, or data warehouse implementations is a strong asset.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools: Tableau and/or Power BI required.

  • Working knowledge of SQL for data querying and validation.

  • Understanding of data modeling concepts: conceptual and physical models, dimensional hierarchies, aggregation logic, and data quality frameworks.

  • Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS) and how they fit into a modern data stack.

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and stakeholder communication.

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or MS Project.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Dual fluency: equal comfort discussing KPI strategy with a CFO and reviewing a data model with a data engineer.

  • Strong structured thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex data concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams without losing attention to detail.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach — you contribute, enable, and elevate the team.

Certifications (Nice to Have)

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI-PBA, or equivalent.

  • Microsoft or Tableau certification in data analytics or BI tools.

WHY JOIN TECHTORCH

TechTorch offers a rare combination: the intellectual rigor of consulting, the tangibility of in-house delivery, and the outsized impact of working inside PE-backed companies at critical inflection points. You will work alongside high-caliber teammates, have direct access to senior client stakeholders from day one, and build a portfolio of data projects that drive real, measurable business outcomes.

If you are a consultant ready to trade slide decks for delivery — and want to see your data work actually move the needle — this is the opportunity.

• Competitive base salary + performance bonuses

• Health, dental, and vision insurance

• 401(k) with company matching

• Fully remote with ~quarterly domestic travel
