BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE - INTERNAL SALES

Dunham & Associates Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, “Dunham”) is a thought leader in the financial services industry. The way we work is a direct reflection of our company culture; we believe in accountability, putting our clients first, and constantly striving for growth. Since 1985, Dunham has grown to become a multi-billion-dollar firm. We work with close to 1,400 Financial Advisors across all 50 states.
Dunham & Associates Investment Counsel, Inc., a subsidiary of Dunham, is an independently owned, registered Broker/Dealer and Investment Adviser helping Financial Advisors and individual investors reach their long-term goals. The firm's focus is on providing disciplined wealth management solutions and related services.
This Is a Phone Sales Role (On-Site in San Diego office). Here's What That Means.
If you thrive making 60+ outbound calls a day, love the rhythm of a full pipeline, and measure your days by conversations started and doors opened then keep reading. This is not a role for someone waiting to be told what to do next.
As a Business Development Associate at Dunham & Associates, you'll partner with our external wholesalers to grow assigned territories by building relationships with financial advisors across the country. You'll represent our full suite of solutions (Dunham mutual funds, advisory fee programs, and trust services) and you'll do it primarily over the phone, every day.
We'll invest in your training, your licensing, and your career. In return, we expect the drive to back it up.
What You'll Be Doing

- Spending the majority of your day on outbound cold calls – building, maintaining, and deepening relationships with financial advisors and prospects across your assigned territory
- Partnering with your external wholesaler to develop and execute a regional business plan that drives AUM growth
- Scheduling and coordinating Regional Director appointments to set up productive field days
- Presenting and selling Dunham's investment and trust solutions to financial advisors
- Preparing proposals, managing your CRM (Salesforce), and keeping client records accurate and current
- Following up on leads, referrals, proposals, and field activity with consistency and urgency
- Handling inbound inquiries for information, marketing materials, hypothetical illustrations, and other services
- Participating in webinars, trade shows, and marketing events as needed
- Owning your day – prioritizing independently, moving quickly, and knowing when to escalate
Who Thrives Here
- Self-directed. You don't wait for someone to assign your next task. You come in with a plan and execute it.
- High work ethic. You show up ready, stay focused, and put in the effort it takes and not just when it's easy.
 - Coachable and fast. You absorb feedback, apply it quickly, and keep improving without taking it personally.
- A strong communicator. You're confident on the phone, personable with prospects, and clear in writing.
- A team player. You collaborate well, lift the energy around you, and understand that your success is connected to everyone else's.
- A great time manager. In a role that's 80% phone activity, you know how to structure your day, balance competing priorities, and stay accountable to your own goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Current SIE and FINRA Series 6 or 7 required.  Series 63, 65, or 66 required within 4 months of hire.
- At least 2 years of financial services or sales experience
- Outbound cold call experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office; Salesforce experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must work on-site at our San Diego office
Compensation
  • Base: $33.65/hour (~$70,000 annually)
  • Revenue Sharing: Eligible for our commission program tied to AUM growth in your assigned region
  • Growth: Clearly defined career path with promotion from within

Dunham & Associates has grown from $4.7B to over $7B in AUM because we invest in our people the same way we invest for our clients—with conviction and a long-term view. If you're ready to build something, we're ready to grow with you.
