Sentar is proud to be an employee-owned company, fostering a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and innovation. Sentar is dedicated to developing the critical talent that the connected world demands to create solutions to address the convergence of cybersecurity, intelligence, analytics, and systems engineering. We invite you to join the team where you can build, innovate, and secure your career.

Sentar is seeking a hands-on Business Development / Capture Manager to drive growth across our cybersecurity, intelligence, software development, and mission systems portfolio.

This is not a purely strategic role.

We are looking for someone who can identify, shape, and win new business end-to-end—from early customer engagement through proposal submission and contract award. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in front of the customer, building a capture strategy, writing proposal content, and closing deals.

At Sentar, you will not be one layer removed from execution. You will be expected to own the full lifecycle of opportunities and be directly accountable for wins.

Role Description:

  • Own capture from cradle to grave: Identify, qualify, shape, and lead opportunities through award
  • Develop and execute account strategies and customer engagement plans across DoD/IC cybersecurity markets
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders
  • Lead opportunity shaping, including:
    • win themes
    • competitive positioning
    • teaming strategy
    • pricing strategy (in coordination with our Pricing Manager)
  • Drive proposal development hands-on, including:
    • writing sections
    • developing technical approaches
    • supporting BOEs
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders but do not rely on large support teams—this role requires direct execution
  • Lead gate reviews, bid/no-bid decisions, and capture reviews
  • Close deals—own the outcome from pipeline to award

Qualifications:

Clearance Level: Secret or ability to obtain

Education: Bachelors degree preferred

Must-Have Experience

  • 10+ years in government contracting and 5 years of BD/capture
  • Proven track record of winning new business (not just supporting or contributing, managing/leading)
  • Experience owning opportunities through full lifecycle (BD ? capture ? proposal ? award)
  • Strong understanding of DoD/IC markets, ideally in cybersecurity, intelligence, or mission systems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute win strategies that result in awards

What Sets You Apart (Critical for Success at Sentar)

  • You are a builder, not a coordinator
  • You have personally written proposals and capture artifacts
  • You are comfortable operating in a lean, high-accountability environment
  • You can operate without a large team supporting every function
  • You know how to close—not just position—opportunities
  • You thrive in a role where you own the number
