What We're Looking For

Michael Baker International is seeking a Business Development Executive to join our GovTech practice in a fully remote capacity on the East Coast. In this senior-level sales role, you will spearhead the growth of our Indoor Mapping and spatial intelligence vertical — identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across commercial and public safety markets. You will own the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through contract execution, delivering compelling value proposition presentations that translate cutting-edge location intelligence into real-world safety and operational outcomes for clients across critical infrastructure, educational facilities, and public safety agencies.

This is a Work From Home remote position with up to 50% travel. No sponsorship is provided for this role; all candidates must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States without restrictions indefinitely.

What You'll Do

  • Build and grow a qualified client pipeline across the East Coast territory, driving net-new business development from prospecting through contract close for GovTech's Indoor Mapping and spatial intelligence SaaS platform
  • Deliver compelling, client-ready value proposition presentations that translate indoor spatial intelligence solutions into tangible outcomes for commercial, public safety, and enterprise buyers
  • Develop and maintain strategic client relationships as a trusted advocate, educator, and subject matter expert on geospatial data and GovTech products
  • Execute the complete sales cycle — prospecting, qualifying, proposal development, and closing — independently and with urgency, meeting and exceeding revenue targets
  • Collaborate with GovTech's technical team on client deliverables, ensuring on-time project execution and seamless handoff from sales to delivery
  • Identify and pursue cross-sell opportunities by leveraging existing Michael Baker International relationships across disciplines and market segments
  • Maintain high industry visibility by attending major conferences including NENA, APCO, ESRI, and NSGIC, establishing Michael Baker International as a recognized leader in indoor spatial intelligence
  • Assist clients in identifying funding and procurement options to accelerate deal cycles and remove purchasing barriers
  • Maintain accurate CRM pipeline records, providing consistent visibility into deal stage, revenue forecast, and territory activity

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Geography/GIS, Public Safety, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of public safety or SaaS sales experience (GIS, Public Safety, or comparable technology vertical)
  • 5+ years navigating the full sales cycle — prospecting, qualifying, proposal development, and closing — with demonstrated individual deal ownership
  • Proven ability to deliver effective value proposition presentations to enterprise and government or public safety clients
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for non-technical audiences
  • Experience using a CRM system for pipeline management and customer record management
  • Ability to coordinate across project stakeholders and work cross-functionally with technical delivery teams
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling indoor mapping, spatial intelligence, or location-based technology platforms
  • NG911, PSAP, or public safety emergency communications domain knowledge
  • Esri ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online experience
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and public sector funding mechanisms
  • Experience managing commercial enterprise accounts (critical infrastructure, educational institutions, stadiums, or large venue operators)
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in relevant field)

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $109,179 to $150,000 + commission. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
