Why Standard Fleet?

Connected vehicles are transforming fleet operations across industries, led by the electric revolution. EVs were the first truly software-defined vehicles, and businesses are rapidly adopting them but lack the software infrastructure to unlock their true value.

Our mission is to build the fleet management platform for the electric vehicle era - becoming the default software layer that empowers fleet operators to maximize efficiency and profitability without hardware modifications.

Every member of the Standard Fleet team is fueled by an unwavering passion for revolutionizing mobility through software and is deeply committed to making our products better. We come from companies like Apple, Uber, Tesla, Stripe, Robinhood, and Yelp and were the first to officially integrate with Tesla's fleet API. We've achieved 5.7x growth in 2024 with a small team and want your help to accelerate further.

Standard Fleet is well-funded and backed by some of Silicon Valley's top investors. We were founded by David Hodge, who previously founded Embark. At Embark, the team built a popular transportation app used by millions, which was eventually sold to Apple.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to drive operational excellence and financial rigor across Standard Fleet. Reporting to our Head of Business Operations, you'll build the foundational systems and processes that will enable us to scale from high-growth startup to market leader in fleet management software for the electric era.

In this role, you will partner closely with our Head of Business Operations to ensure processes across all functions of the company run smoothly and efficiently. You'll own critical business workflows spanning finance, compliance, partnerships, and customer operations—directly impacting how we serve fleets across rental, rideshare, leasing, finance, and insurance verticals. This is a rare opportunity to shape the operational backbone of a rapidly scaling company while working directly with customers to understand their needs and translate insights into actionable improvements.

This is a demanding role, with a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You will be expected to "act like an owner" and commit yourself to Standard Fleet's success. If you are low-ego, hungry to learn, and excited about intense, impactful work that drives both company growth and accelerated career progression, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain our financial model, including monthly revenue projections, burn tracking, quarterly scenario planning, and management of external financial relationships (R&D credits, tax accounting).

  • Drive payment operations and compliance from strategy to execution, including failed payment procedures, customer verification processes, and contract optimization.

  • Deeply understand our business by engaging with customers and internal teams to inform financial modeling, operational improvements, and strategic decision-making.

  • Manage our ecosystem partnerships pipeline, evaluating opportunities and creating materials for strategic partners including OEMs, charging networks, and insurance providers.

  • Ensure smooth cross-functional operations by maintaining prioritization alignment between business needs and engineering resources.

Qualifications

We don’t believe in qualification checkboxes for candidates. These often cause great candidates to think they’re not qualified. If you think you can help us scale our business, let’s talk and see if we’re a fit.

You might be a good fit if...
  • You're obsessively detail-oriented and have a track record of building rigorous financial models and operational systems.

  • You're intellectually curious with an innate need to understand how everything works - from unit economics to API integrations.

  • You debug your own thinking by constantly testing assumptions and finding creative ways to validate your work before presenting it.

  • You have 2+ years in fast-paced environments (startups, consulting, investment banking) with strong modeling and analytical skills.

  • You're a true generalist with a "whatever it takes" attitude who gets energized by ambiguity and rapid change.

  • You're excited about using AI and automation to 10x your productivity and eliminate repetitive work.

  • You have familiarity with SQL and data analysis (or are eager to learn quickly).

  • You maintain exceptional organization even when juggling multiple complex projects and stakeholders.

  • You have a passion for electric vehicles and the future of transportation.

  • You have high standards and a strong work ethic - you always bring your best and expect your colleagues to do the same.
