About Powerline

Powerline is a fast-growing, VC-backed software company dedicated to transforming the modern electricity grid through cutting-edge AI and machine learning. Our core platform, Battery Co-Pilot™, leverages advanced AI digital twins to continuously benchmark and optimize utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). We remove operational blind spots, model complex market dynamics, and deliver the actionable intelligence asset owners need to confidently outperform in volatile energy markets.

The Role

We are looking for a high-caliber Business Operations Manager to join our team, reporting to the CEO. Sitting at the intersection of strategy, product execution, and go-to-market initiatives, you will act as an internal consultant and strategic quarterback. You will tackle ambiguous, high-impact business challenges, untangle complex operational bottlenecks, and design the workflows required to scale our platform globally.

This role requires a unique mix of rigorous quantitative analysis, strategic foresight, and exceptional relationship-building. You will frequently work across engineering, data science, and business development to align priorities, and frequently driving major initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-functional special projects from concept to execution (e.g., evaluating new market entry strategies, optimizing customer onboarding pipelines, or structuring commercial pricing frameworks).

  • Build the quantitative models, dashboards, and frameworks necessary to track company-wide KPIs and evaluate new business opportunities.

  • Serve as the connective tissue between technical AI/ML engineering teams, product managers, and commercial leads to drive alignment on high-priority company objectives.

  • Audit existing startup processes, identify bottlenecks, and design highly efficient, scalable workflows that allow our operations to keep pace with our technical scaling.

  • Synthesize intricate technical and financial data into polished, high-impact narratives and presentations for leadership and board-level discussions.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in analytically rigorous and execution-oriented roles, such as strategy, operations, consulting, product, or investing in the energy field.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling, data analysis, dashboards, KPIs, or operational analytics.

  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and independently drive complex cross-functional initiatives from concept to execution.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously.

  • Customer-facing and relationship-building experience, particularly in enterprise or B2B settings.

  • Experience working closely with technical teams (AI/ML, software engineering, data science) and translating between technical and commercial stakeholders.

  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with a relentless bias for action. You don't just wait for a playbook; you build it.

  • Bonus:

    • Familiarity with power markets, renewable energy, battery storage, energy trading, or AI-enabled software platforms.

    • Experience in high-growth environments or startups.

    • MBA from a top-tier business school is a plus.
