About Metriport

Metriport is an open-source data intelligence platform that helps healthcare organizations access and exchange patient data in real-time. We integrate with all major US healthcare IT systems and tap into comprehensive medical data for 300+ million individuals.

We've found product-market fit with multi-million ARR, 100+ customers (including Amazon One Medical, Strive Health, Circle Medical, and Brightside Health), backing from top VCs, and years of runway. We're ready to scale. We're a tight-knit, high-performing team of mostly former founders (including two YC alumni). We're engineering-heavy, operate with minimal bureaucracy and high autonomy, and hire based on competence, not prestige. We push hard—founders work six days a week from our SF office—but give everyone freedom to craft their schedule. We measure output and we're committed to sustainable intensity.

The Role

This isn’t a standard FP&A role where you sit behind a spreadsheet and wait for instructions. As our first dedicated Finance hire on the BizOps team, you will manage our entire financial stack end-to-end. You will be responsible for the integrity of our books, the efficiency of our revenue collection, the automation of our internal financial operations, and more.

If you need "perfect information" to make progress, or if you think any task is "beneath" your background, this is not the right fit. We need a Swiss Army Knife who can lead a board-level financial review in the morning and troubleshoot a HubSpot-to-Stripe sync in the afternoon.

What You’ll Own
  • The Financial Stack: End-to-end management of banking, invoicing, bookkeeping, and FP&A.

  • The Close: Own month-end and year-end close, ensuring books are pristine by the 15th of each month.

  • Operations & RevOps: Heavily support the Sales team by driving RevOps efforts and integrating systems (e.g., HubSpot to Stripe, Stripe to QuickBooks).

  • Reporting: Track and improve our collections rate, budget vs. actuals (BVA), and departmental purchase request turnaround.

  • External Relations: Serve as the professional face of Metriport to accountants, investors, vendors, and customers.

Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years in Investment Banking, MBB Consulting, or a high-growth startup (Seed to Series B).

  • Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.

  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level Excel and Google Sheets skills. Powerpoint skills that can distill complex data into clear narratives.

  • Ambiguity Tolerance: You thrive in fast-paced environments and know how to drive projects to completion without a playbook.

  • Location: Based in San Francisco (or willing to relocate) with a 5-day-a-week in-office presence.

  • The "Metriport" Mindset: Low ego, high ownership. You ask "Why can't this be done in 3 days?" instead of 3 weeks.

Bonus Points
  • Automation: Experience automating workflows via Zapier or Python script.

  • Familiarity With Finance Tech: Proficiency with QuickBooks, Brex or Ramp, Stripe, and CRMs.

  • Domain: Experience in the Healthcare IT or Healthtech space.

How We Measure Success
  • Are the books closed by the 15th?

  • Is our collections rate exceeding our target threshold?

  • How tight is the delta between our budget and our actuals?

  • Are you reducing the "work about work" by implementing better processes?

Metriport provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome people from all backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and abilities.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
