The Business Systems Analyst serves as a bridge between business teams and technology teams, analyzing business processes and system requirements to help organizations improve efficiency and technology solutions. The role involves gathering requirements, evaluating existing systems, documenting processes, and supporting the implementation and improvement of business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Evaluate existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business needs into clear technical and functional requirements.
  • Work closely with software developers, IT teams, project managers, and business users.
  • Create requirements documents, process maps, workflows, and system specifications.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with software implementations, upgrades, and system integrations.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure systems meet business requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, and help resolve system issues.
  • Support user acceptance testing and implementation activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure requirements remain up to date.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to business users when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, IT, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of databases, software applications, and system integration concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and business analysis tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • SQL and database-querying experience.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, or other enterprise business systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with process-mapping and workflow tools.
  • Knowledge of project management and software development lifecycles.
  • Experience with reporting and data-visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
