ABOUT THE JOB

Radar is seeking a Buyer/Planner to serve as strategic support combining procurement and New Product Introduction (NPI) material planning to ensure clear to build (CTB) milestones meet schedule. This role will interface cross-functionally with engineering, finance, technical program management, and externally with our contract manufacturing partners and component suppliers.

USA Remote may be considered for exceptional candidates with monthly travel as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the materials planning for New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering development builds. This includes creating, communicating, and managing materials plans—ensuring readiness, availability, and visibility—to support NPI builds carried out both internally and with Contract Manufacturers (CMs). Furthermore, maintain accurate system records (NetSuite) for all material receipts across the entire extended supply chain and with all 3rd party partners.
  • Analyze contract manufacturer (CM) production schedules and purchasing trends. Strategically develop and propose sourcing and production timelines to meet dynamic demand forecasts and achieve customer delivery goals.
  • Manage inventory levels—including safety stock and Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ)—to optimize capital utilization and prevent material shortages or excess stock. This involves reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and implementing change orders effectively.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency when addressing immediate shortages, determining the root cause of those shortages, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Ensure the accuracy of planning and automated purchasing by maintaining high data integrity within all ERP/MRP systems, including NetSuite, SAP, and Oracle.
  • Manage and execute daily materials transactions (incoming and outgoing) for the hardware operations group.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with the Rolling Forecast .xls used for hardware forecast planning
  • Visit our CM and engage with their buyer, their planner, together with our Radar commodity manager, and create a list of opportunities to improve our mutual planning and procurement processes and collaboration
  • Own procurement of hardware materials
In your first 90 days, you will:
  • Publish the results of your efforts and accomplishments to refine the planning and procurement of Radar controlled components - controllers, ethernet switches, FPGA’s, chassis, etc.
  • Own the Radar side of the weekly materials compliance calls with our CM
  • Publish monthly updates on Buyer / Planner initiatives - what, who, when to continually improve our planning and procurement processes (2, 3 way matching, MRP module requirements definition and recommended path forward, etc).
