ABOUT THE JOBRadar is seeking a Buyer/Planner to serve as strategic support combining procurement and New Product Introduction (NPI) material planning to ensure clear to build (CTB) milestones meet schedule. This role will interface cross-functionally with engineering, finance, technical program management, and externally with our contract manufacturing partners and component suppliers.
USA Remote may be considered for exceptional candidates with monthly travel as needed.
Responsibilities- Drive the materials planning for New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering development builds. This includes creating, communicating, and managing materials plans—ensuring readiness, availability, and visibility—to support NPI builds carried out both internally and with Contract Manufacturers (CMs). Report on all materials plan updates.
- Manage the procurement of diverse materials for both engineering development and production, strictly adhering to established procedures such as quotation and credit limit requirements. Furthermore, maintain accurate system records (NetSuite) for all material receipts across the entire extended supply chain and with all 3rd party partners.
- Analyze contract manufacturer (CM) production schedules and purchasing trends. Strategically develop and propose sourcing and production timelines to meet dynamic demand forecasts and achieve customer delivery goals.
- Manage inventory levels—including safety stock and Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ)—to optimize capital utilization and prevent material shortages or excess stock. This involves reviewing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and implementing change orders effectively.
- Maintain a sense of urgency when addressing immediate shortages, determining the root cause of those shortages, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Ensure the accuracy of planning and automated purchasing by maintaining high data integrity within all ERP/MRP systems, including NetSuite, SAP, and Oracle.
- Manage and execute daily materials transactions (incoming and outgoing) for the hardware operations group.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related field.
- You have 3+ years of experience in a fast paced manufacturing or tech environment with specific experience in NPI planning and procurement.
- You are proficient in ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite).
- You are proficient in making spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and data visualization (Tableau, Power BI).
- You are able to read and interpret technical drawings or schematics and engineering change orders.
- You are a strong communicator.
- You have logistics experience
- Learn Radar’s mission, technology stack and core values.
- Complete onboarding and security compliance training.
- Learn and be conversant on Radar’s system hardware, and RFID sensor majority components
- Demonstrate proficiency in Arena BOM
- Publish weekly updates on RS551 NPI materials plan - clear to build status, confirmed & “under evaluation” components - with pricing, leadtime, and sources identified
- Demonstrate proficiency with the Rolling Forecast .xls used for hardware forecast planning
- Visit our CM and engage with their buyer, their planner, together with our Radar commodity manager, and create a list of opportunities to improve our mutual planning and procurement processes and collaboration
- Own procurement of hardware materials
- Publish the results of your efforts and accomplishments to refine the planning and procurement of Radar controlled components - controllers, ethernet switches, FPGA’s, chassis, etc.
- Own the Radar side of the weekly materials compliance calls with our CM
- Publish monthly updates on Buyer / Planner initiatives - what, who, when to continually improve our planning and procurement processes (2, 3 way matching, MRP module requirements definition and recommended path forward, etc).
At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $120,000. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, life and disability benefits, 401k plan, flexible time off, and paid parental leave. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
