As Buyer, you will procure space-grade components and materials for the development, integration, testing, and production of Low Earth Orbit satellite systems. You will support engineering and manufacturing teams by executing purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, ensuring on-time delivery, and maintaining compliance with export control, quality, and contractual requirements. Your work will have significant impact on our goal of bringing cutting edge navigation technologies to space.
ResponsibilitiesExecute purchase orders for satellite components, subsystems, materials, and services
Source competitive quotes while balancing schedule, cost, quality, and risk
Support vendor relationships with long-lead and sole-source suppliers
Manage delivery schedules for R&D and flight items
Coordinate with suppliers on order status, delays, expedites, and corrective actions
Track supplier performance related to cost, quality, and responsiveness
Support the team in testing and implementing a new ERP system
Support logistics for domestic and international suppliers by verifying correct documentation
Create and manage vendor accounts, set up net terms, negotiate payment terms, and ensure compliance with tax exemptions
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or 3-5 years of experience as a buyer in a technical field)
Experience working in Aviation/Aerospace, Automotive, Defense, or Robotics in a purchasing capacity
Experience purchasing technical components, hardware, machined parts, and electronics
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with Quality Management (QMS) Systems, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
Experience with consignment and turnkey purchasing for PCB assembly or other complex electrical builds
Understanding of domestic and international shipping requirements and ability to prepare shipping documentation. Familiarity with HTS codes, ECCN basics, Incoterms, and controlled-item handling is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all documentation and transactions
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration internally, and for vendor management externally
Flexibility and adaptability to evolving program needs and priorities
Identify opportunities for process improvement and support systems and software scale-up
For U.S. Roles: To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e. Green Card holder), or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
For U.K. Roles: To comply with U.K. regulations, this role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks, and successful candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
For Canada Roles: Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
