Job Description Summary

Responsible for safely checking in all members to the Club and entering names into the database. Ensure that bags, coats and hats are left at the check-in desk before entering the Club. Prepare reports from member database as scheduled. Answers telephone, questions and maintains electronic and hard copy files.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for checking all members into the Club and entering member attendance into database.
  • Ensure that all necessary member items are checked in to desk area and not brought into Club.
    • Retrieves personal items when needed.
  • Creates a safe Club environment.
  • Answers telephones, providing general information, referring callers to other staff or taking messages as necessary.
  • Maintains electronic and hard copy filing systems, making sure they are accurate and timely and facilitate easy retrieval of information.
  • Assists members and families in filling out membership forms.
  • Assists with monitoring nearby areas to ensure member safety.
  • Serve as Club receptionist, greeting all members and visitors and maintaining attendance and visitor logs.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong ability to engage and connect with youth in a group setting.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols including fire, severe weather, and lockdown procedures.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to all Boys & Girls Club/KIDSTOP policies and procedures.
  • Computer and data entry skills.
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer relations skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.

Education & Work Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Fundamental Relationships

Maintains close daily contact with Club staff, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information. Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents, and others to provide a positive Club experience.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly: stationary work, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, hearing, seeing, repetitive hand motions.
  • Occasionally: lifting up to 50 lbs.

Equipment Use

  • Regularly: computers, copy/scan machines, phones and two-way radios.
  • Occasionally: kitchen equipment, hand tools, Audio Visual equipment, and hand tools

Work Environment

  • Regularly: indoor and outdoor work in varied weather conditions, team and independent work, noisy conditions.
  • Occasionally: odors, varied lighting, small and/or enclosed spaces.

Mental Demands

  • Regularly: managing workplace stressors and handling belligerent behaviors.

Substance Exposure & Protective Equipment

  • Occasionally: exposure to chemicals or body fluids, use of protective gear (gloves, masks, etc.).
