The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation

The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation (SGBFF) works to build a more equal and resilient world. We bring people together to support each other through four initiatives: LeanIn.Org, LeanInGirls.Org, OptionB.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program.

About This Role

Lean In inspires and equips women to lead. Today, that mission is more urgent than ever.

As CEO, you will lead Lean In—our flagship initiative and a global community of millions—while overseeing our broader family of programs. This role requires both vision and execution: someone who can see where the world is heading and build what’s needed to meet it.

About This Moment

Work is changing faster than at any point in recent memory. Artificial intelligence is reshaping industries, redefining skills, and altering how opportunity is distributed. We know from experience that when workplaces transform, women can be left behind.

We cannot let that happen.

Lean In must evolve to meet this moment. We have built a powerful global community and a trusted brand. Now we must translate that strength into tools, products, and partnerships that help women not only navigate change—but lead it.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a leader who builds. Someone who understands how to turn ideas into products, products into communities, and communities into movements.

You have strong product instincts and the discipline to execute. You know how to ship, learn, and improve. You understand how technology—especially AI—can expand access and opportunity when used thoughtfully.

You also understand people. You know what resonates. You know how to build trust. And you know that real growth happens when individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered to support others.

You know how to manage high-performing teams. You’ve set ambitious goals and delivered results. You are comfortable moving quickly, making decisions with imperfect information, and adjusting course when needed.

Most importantly, you believe deeply that advancing women is essential—not just for fairness, but for progress.

What Success Looks Like

You'll transform Lean In into an organization where product and content work in concert to serve and rapidly grow our community of millions of women globally.

You'll build partnerships that extend our reach beyond what we could achieve alone.

You'll create the conditions for exponential community growth—where every member becomes a gateway to reaching more women who need us. You'll create operational discipline that allows us to move fast while maintaining our mission integrity.

Who You Are

You may come from technology, media, education, or another field entirely. What matters most is what you’ve built and your dedication to our mission of advancing women in leadership. A technical degree is a plus, but not required.

You are optimistic about the future but realistic about the challenges. You are steady under pressure. You are energized by the possibility of meaningful change.

And you believe that when women rise, we all rise.

What We Will Offer You

The base salary for the CEO role will range from $395,000 to $475,000 annually, based on experience and demonstrated leadership. In addition, the CEO will be eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 20% of base salary, tied directly to the achievement of organizational goals.

We believe in rewarding results—and in supporting the whole person. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) with a 4% employer match; generous paid time off; and additional benefits designed to support well-being and long-term success.

The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity without regard to age, race, ethnicity, gender, protected veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion. It’s important to us that people of all identities and backgrounds see themselves represented and included in our work, so we actively encourage people of all identities and experiences to apply.

Provide high-impact executive support to the CEO (70–80%), managing scheduling, correspondence, and personal/admin tasks. Own back-office and operational functions (10–20%) including payroll, finance interfaces, document prep, and special projects across sales, marketing, and client delivery. Act as responsive, detail-oriented right hand in a fast-growing startup, often in-person in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.
