Chief of Staff, Digital & Product

About Re:Build Manufacturing

At Re:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.

We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.

The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by The Re:Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. (link to The Re:Build Way principles)

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leverage & Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted thought partner and extension of the Chief Digital and Product Officer.
  • Take ownership of high-priority initiatives requiring senior-level attention and drive them from definition through execution.
  • Translate broad strategic direction into clear priorities, decisions, actions, owners, and milestones.
  • Provide independent analysis and perspective to strengthen executive decision-making.
  • Represent the CDPO on selected initiatives and cross-functional efforts where delegated leadership is required.

Digital, Product & Strategic Initiatives

  • Partner with Digital & Product leaders to evaluate emerging technologies, product opportunities, capabilities, partnerships, and strategic priorities.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis and develop business cases, strategic recommendations, investment theses, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Evaluate technology trends and determine their practical applicability across Re:Build.
  • Pressure-test assumptions and challenge conventional thinking when evaluating opportunities.
  • Step into complex, ambiguous, or stalled initiatives and create structure, alignment, and momentum.
  • Remain engaged through implementation to ensure recommendations translate into measurable outcomes.

Cross-Functional Execution & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Work across Re:Build businesses and enterprise functions to advance priorities requiring broad organizational participation.
  • Convene stakeholders, establish alignment, clarify decision rights, and resolve obstacles.
  • Influence senior leaders and build coalitions without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and organizational barriers before they impede execution.
  • Help strengthen coordination, operating discipline, and organizational effectiveness across Digital & Product.
  • Create transparency around progress, risks, decisions, and accountability.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience across strategy, technology, product, engineering, operations, consulting, business development, or similarly complex environments, with increasing scope and complexity.
  • Experience working closely with senior executives such as a CTO, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Product Officer, CEO, or business unit president, ideally within technology, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial businesses.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Strong ability to structure ambiguous problems, rapidly develop command of unfamiliar subjects, and translate complexity into clear recommendations and decisions.
  • Strong business judgment, analytical capability, and the ability to influence senior leaders and drive outcomes without direct authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, comfort operating with limited direction, and a strong bias toward action, ownership, and measurable outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred

  • Experience launching new products, businesses, technologies, or organizational capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technologies and translating them into practical business applications.
  • Experience supporting or leading strategic partnerships, investment decisions, M&A, or technology diligence.
  • Experience operating within decentralized or matrixed organizations.
  • Technical or engineering background combined with strong commercial and strategic judgment.
  • Advanced degree such as an MBA, M.S. in engineering or computer science, or another relevant technical or business discipline.

What Success Looks Like

  • The successful candidate can be handed a difficult, ambiguous problem and be trusted to figure it out and drive it to completion.
  • They can enter an unfamiliar situation, quickly determine what matters, develop a point of view, bring the right people together, make clear recommendations, and stay with the work through execution.
  • They are neither purely a strategist nor purely a project manager. They combine strategic thinking, strong operating judgment, and the organizational credibility to work effectively with senior leaders across Re:Build.
  • They are comfortable operating behind the scenes when appropriate, but they can also step forward and lead when an initiative requires it. They build trust through sound judgment, follow-through, and results.
