MongoDB Technical Services exists to support our customers’ development, deployment and ongoing operations of mission-critical application data infrastructure, ensuring that they get the most out of their investment in MongoDB.

As our Technical Services organization evolves, we are looking for a Chief of Staff to play a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives, planning and execution frameworks, and operational excellence.

This role offers abundant opportunities to meaningfully impact the progress  of our business. You will work closely with the EVP of Technical Services, their global leadership team, and collaborate with leaders across all functions both internal and external to Technical  Services.

In short, you'll be the strategic right hand—ensuring the entire technical services ecosystem moves with clarity, purpose, and speed. 

We’re looking to speak with candidates based in New York City or Palo Alto for a hybrid working mode. This role reports to our EVP of Technical Services.

Responsibilities

Trusted Advisor and Strategic Initiative Leadership:

  • Strategic Planning: Assist the EVP and their senior leadership team to define and drive strategic initiatives aligned with company goals and technology roadmaps
  • Strategic Communication Enablement: Ensure key updates flow effectively between Technical Services, Product & Technology and Go To Market teams
  • Planning and Execution Frameworks: Works with EVP to establish and scale planning and execution frameworks that translate strategic priorities into clear operating plans, defined ownership, measurable milestones, and consistent delivery across the TS organization
  • Decision-Making Partner: Act as a trusted advisor, sounding board for new ideas and initiatives before they reach broader teams
  • Organizational Stewardship: Represent the EVP and their senior leadership team in cross-functional initiatives and serve as proxy in meetings when needed
  • Strategic Program Reporting and Insights: Ensure clear, consolidated reporting of program status across a wide variety of initiatives both internal and external to the services organization
  • Executive Presentation Strategy and Storytelling: Develop executive-ready presentations and narratives that distill complex information into clear, compelling messaging for senior leadership, key stakeholders, and strategic decision-making

Operational Excellence:

  • Internal Regional & Functional Alignment: Integrate with and work closely with the Technical Services leadership team on ever-changing priorities including strategic planning, organizational transformation
  • Cross-Functional Communication & Alignment: Ensure key updates flow effectively between, Technical Services, Product & Technology and Go To Market teams
  • Project Execution and Delivery: Own program management for selected critical cross-functional initiatives, track milestones, and drive accountability
  • Bridge Operational Gaps: Identify process inefficiencies and proactively solve them to improve team productivity and collaboration
  • Executive Meeting Strategy & Coordination: Run leadership meetings (i.e., QBRs)  with clarity—set agendas, follow up on actions, and synthesize outputs
  • Strategic Communications and Executive Messaging: Craft internal strategic updates, briefings, and talking points for the VP to align messaging across the business
  • Change Management: Work end-to-end on projects that include a range of operational decisions and initiatives, change management, organizational enablement, and driving executive communications with internal and external partners
Requirements
  • 7+ years of enterprise software services delivery leadership, business operations for an enterprise software company, or technology sector-focused management consulting experience preferred
  • 4-year university degree; preferably an MBA
  • Executive Influence: Strong executive presence and the confidence to challenge the status quo. You possess exceptional english language written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing high-quality deliverables for C-suite leadership
  • A Global Mindset: Experience leading or partnering with international teams; you possess the cultural intelligence required to lead a highly global team and navigate new employment markets
  • Navigating Ambiguity:  A proven track record of operating successfully in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.Ability to map complex cross-functional dependencies independently, conceptualize and execute your own solutions, and align diverse teams to work more efficiently toward collective goals
  • A "Builder" Mentality: You thrive in environments where you are expected to architect the playbook rather than follow one. You have a keen eye for identifying system bottlenecks and a proven track record of optimizing processes to drive efficiency.
  • Change Leadership: A demonstrated ability to guide teams through organizational evolution and ambiguity, with the agility to redefine workflows and maintain high performance during periods of transition

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

$101,000$198,000 USD
