About Grafton Sciences
We’re building AI systems with general physical ability, the capacity to experiment, engineer, or manufacture anything. We believe achieving this is a key step toward building superintelligence. With deep technical roots and real-world progress at scale (for example, a $42 million NIH program), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. Joining us means inventing from first principles, owning real systems end to end, and helping build a capability the world has never had before.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Chief of Staff who operates as an extension of the CEO—someone who removes obstacles, drives clarity, and ensures the company is moving fast. This is a high-leverage, high-trust role for an individual with strong technical intuition, exceptional execution ability and a founder-type mindset.
Responsibilities
Serve as the CEO’s right hand, taking on anything that blocks the company, with enough technical depth to meaningfully operate in a deep-tech environment.
Own whatever is bottlenecking you that day: research, modeling, recruiting support, vendors, docs, process, investor prep
Run cross-functional projects that cut across hardware, software, operations, and fundraising
Take rough requests from you and turn them into structured plans, then execute
Build and maintain internal coordination systems so the company “runs like a machine”
Qualifications
Very high throughput, biased to action
Technical background preferred, Ideally in the fields of CS, physics, biology, chemistry, or synthesis
Founder-type mindset: willing to do anything, not precious about scope
Comfortable in chaos and incomplete information
Learns new domains quickly (finance, legal, ops, whatever is needed)
Above all, we look for candidates who can demonstrate world-class excellence
