Why Patch, why now

Patch exists to put the planet back in balance by scaling unified climate action through software, market infrastructure, and culture-driven execution. Every day our platform not only curates the world’s most trusted carbon-removal and environmental datasets—it also moves 100s of millions of dollars to projects that cut, capture, or store CO₂ for good.

Our culture is built on three non-negotiables:

  • We build the future we want – we don’t wait for permission; we shape the market.

  • We’re all in this together – direct, empathetic teamwork inside Patch and across the climate ecosystem.

  • We amp it up – urgency and unreasonably high standards because the planet can’t wait.

If that mindset energizes you, read on.

About the role

Patch is at the forefront of scaling climate solutions by enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate high-integrity carbon removal and reduction into their sustainability strategies. Our platform connects organizations with vetted climate projects, ensuring transparency, impact, and credibility in the carbon markets.

As we expand our expert advisory capabilities, we're looking for an Embedded Climate Strategist to guide clients through the complexities of carbon markets, business case development, carbon budgeting, climate claims, and long-term decarbonization strategy. This role will bridge technical expertise with strategic consulting to help companies make informed, impactful climate decisions.

What you'll tackle
  • Expert Advisory & Consulting: Provide strategic guidance to corporate clients on carbon markets, sustainability strategy, and decarbonization pathways, ensuring alignment with science-based targets (SBTs) and net-zero commitments.

  • Carbon Market Strategy: Advise clients on market trends, high-integrity carbon credit procurement, risk mitigation, and the evolving regulatory landscape.

  • Climate Claims & Reporting: Help businesses navigate climate-related claims, disclosures, and frameworks (e.g., SBTi, VCMI, CSRD) to ensure credibility and compliance.

  • Scenario Planning & Carbon Budgets: Develop emissions reduction scenarios and carbon budgeting approaches to support long-term corporate sustainability strategies.

  • Business Case Creation: Build robust models to demonstrate the ROI of sustainability initiatives, carbon removal investments, and market-based climate solutions.

  • Investment-grade project diligence: Craft carbon and beyond carbon analysis frameworks and conduct diligence accordingly to channel capital to high-integrity climate projects

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Act as a trusted advisor for sustainability leaders, procurement teams, and executives, translating complex climate science into actionable business strategies.

  • Commercial Lead: partner with Account Executives as a climate subject matter expert to advise buyers on carbon strategy, diligence, and purchasing pathways.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with go-to-market, policy, and product teams to shape Patch’s offerings, ensuring they meet evolving client needs in the voluntary and compliance carbon markets.

What makes you a great match
  • 10+ years of experience in sustainability strategy, carbon markets, or climate advisory, preferably in an applied corporate and/or consulting setting.

  • Deep knowledge of carbon markets, net-zero frameworks, and corporate decarbonization strategies.

  • Strong understanding of carbon market mechanisms, including voluntary and compliance markets, credit quality assessments, and emerging trends in climate finance.

  • Experience executing or advising clients on business case development for sustainability investments and carbon credit procurement.

  • Ability to translate technical climate concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication skills with experience in client-facing roles, presentations, and thought leadership.

  • Ability to work out of our San Francisco office a few days a week

What would be a plus:
  • Project development and/or climate investment experience

  • Expertise in lifecycle assessments (LCA), climate risk modeling, or policy is a plus.

  • Experience productizing services and building recurring revenue models

What you'll get
  • A mission-obsessed crew building with speed and sky-high standards

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity

  • Onsite culture in San Francisco with annual offsites for deep strategy and team bonding

  • Unlimited vacation and generous parental leave

  • Monthly wellness stipend (mental and physical)

If building the relationships and developing bespoke climate strategies to scale climate finance—while using AI as a force multiplier—sound like your kind of challenge, we’d love to meet you.

Let’s rebalance the planet together.
