Job Summary
The Senior Medical Director provides clinical development expertise for late-stage thoracic oncology clinical trials directly, including overseeing their design, conduct and analysis, and may supervise other (associate) medical directors. They work closely with other functions such as regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, biostatistics, and medical affairs to ensure that the clinical development program meets scientific, ethical, and regulatory standards. They also provide medical expertise and guidance to the clinical operations team, investigators, and external stakeholders such as health authorities, ethics committees, and patient advocacy groups.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Development Expertise on Study Teams and Development Subteams
  • Conduct medical monitoring activities including eligibility assessment, data review and safety monitoring.
  • Lead peer-to-peer interactions with investigators.
  • Serve as the point of contact for clinical issues between the study team, investigators, ethics committees, steering committees, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead and contribute to development and maintenance of clinical trial and regulatory documents, in collaboration with Clinical Scientist and the cross-functional team.

Strategic Guidance, Clinical Insights & Interpretation
  • Serve as an integral member of the Clinical Subteam of the Global Product Team (GPT) to execute clinical development strategies.
  • Represent the company in external engagements including advisory boards and health authority interactions.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Scientist to review and interpret clinical data, identify key findings and implications, and communicate to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a high level of clinical expertise and professional competence by staying abreast of the latest developments, literature, and guidelines to advise on and drive current and future clinical development plans.
  • Medical degree required
  • 5+ years industry experience required
  • Clinical Development experience required
  • As a medically qualified individual (MQI), the successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
    • Obtained a primary medical degree (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS, MBChB) from a recognized medical school/university.
    • Been licensed by a licensing body/health authority to prescribe medicines independent of Supervision for at least 2 years post their intern/house officer/foundation period.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Late-stage clinical development experience preferred
  • Thoracic Oncology experience preferred
  • Board certified/eligible in oncology or equivalent preferred
  • Have maintained registration/Medical License to practice and always have been in good standing with their Medical Licensing Authority preferred.

Organizational Relationships
Reports to Clinical Development Executive Medical Director (CDMED) and partners closely with subject-matter experts within the cross-functional study team as well as counterparts in other divisions within Pfizer.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Travel to scientific conferences / meetings several times per year, as needed

This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $274,500.00 to $457,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
