Qualifications:
- Current California State Clinical Laboratory Scientist License, required.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in biology or related science
- Must demonstrate basic computer skills as required to successfully perform their job duties
- Knowledge of basic lab testing principles
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions related to patient testing
Job Duties:
- Follows established procedures to perform routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing.
- Performs all Laboratory Information system functions necessary to complete patient testing and specimen processing.
- Participates in continuing education programs and consults current technical literature to keep abreast of changes in the field.
- Promotes good public relations through productive and professional interaction with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdown; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps
- Completes projects by assisting project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
