Cloud Architect – Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

West Monroe is hiring a Cloud Architect for our growing Enterprise Technology practice! This role will focus on leading Google Cloud Platform (GCP) migrations and modernizing complex IT environments for a wide range of clients. The architect will play a key role in designing, engineering, and deploying cutting-edge GCP solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams. 

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with West Monroe consultants and client leadership to architect, build, and deploy secure GCP cloud solutions that improve business operations.
  • Assess current-state IT environments, interview stakeholders, gather/define requirements, and recommend viable GCP migration strategies and solutions.
  • Design and implement GCP landing zones that align with best practices for scalability, security, and governance.
  • Lead on-premises to GCP migration projects, including workload assessment, migration planning, and execution.
  • Develop and enforce GCP architecture standards, best practices, and governance frameworks to ensure secure, compliant, and consistent solutions.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to automate deployments in GCP.
  • Optimize GCP services, applications, and IT systems to enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support analysis for key decisions regarding project direction, including GCP service selections, team workstreams, and methodology.
  • Provide technical leadership in implementing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment in GCP environments.
  • Assist in business development by supporting proposals, pre-sales technical discovery, and client presentations related to GCP.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to junior consultants on GCP technical best practices, professional development, and client engagement.
  • Contribute to practice development and Center of Excellence meetings by sharing insights, tools, and methodologies to improve delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience required.
  • Consulting firm/industry experience preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in an IT architecture/engineering role, with a focus on cloud computing and GCP migrations.
  • Proven experience leading on-premises to GCP migration projects, including assessment, planning, and execution.
  • Strong understanding of GCP services such as Compute Engine, BigQuery, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and networking.
  • Proficient with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and deployment automation in GCP.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and monitoring within GCP environments.
  • Confident communication, presentation, and team leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements.
  • Bonus: GCP Professional Certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Data Engineer), scripting experience (Python, PowerShell), and familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, ISO, PCI).

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.

Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
