Position
CNC Machinist Level I, II or III

Location:  Cameron Park, CA
Status:  Full Time
Hours:  Monday - Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

General Description:
Responsibilities vary by level (I, II, or III) and may include operating and setting up CNC mills and/or lathes, as well as manual machine tools; placing workpieces correctly in the machines; and completing operations specified on job travelers. The ability to interpret blueprints and part specifications — and to select the correct materials, tools, and processes — is a strong plus.
For Level II and III, knowledge of G-code programming formats is desirable, along with a solid working knowledge of inspection equipment and the ability to select the proper inspection tool to verify product conformity. Working knowledge of programming techniques at the machine control and via CAD/CAM software is valued. Experienced Level III machinists will mentor lower-level machinists and play an active role in guiding department workflow for maximum efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES(Not a comprehensive list — will vary by level)
Setup & Operation
  • Tend one or more CNC machine tools (mills and/or lathes) to machine metal and non-metal workpieces
  • Load parts into CNC machining centers or manual machines as required
  • Build fixtures as required to hold workpiece
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Blueprints & Tooling
  • Read blueprints and job traveler specifications to determine proper tooling and setup for each operation
  • Select correct tooling, materials, and processes based on specifications
Programming
  • Interpret and edit CNC programs using Fanuc, Fadal, and Yasnac controls
  • Modify programs as required to meet product conformity
  • Retrieve and store programs in the database
Inspection & Quality
  • Inspect and measure workpieces using standard measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications
  • Observe machine operation and verify workpiece conformance during the run
  • Maintain statistical reporting
Maintenance & Tooling Upkeep
  • Replace cutting tools as required to maintain part quality
  • Complete routine machine maintenance
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
Finishing
  • Deburr and clean workpieces as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5–10+ years' experience for Level II or III
  • Good math skills
  • General mechanical skills and basic familiarity with hand tools
  • Basic blueprint skills (Level II or III)
  • Preferred knowledge of machining stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, Inconel, and assorted plastics (Level III)
