Location: Remote within the US
About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee. WeVote is a movement of over 100 passionate volunteers (starting with the founders) who are building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We observe that many voters are busy, distracted, and impatient. We have a goal of providing a complete voting experience in 8 minutes, including the download of our app ("WeVote Ballot Guide, @WeVote"). More information is at https://WeVote.US. The Role of the Chief Marketing Officer 

  • Working with the Marketing team, including our Chief of Staff, to develop and own our marketing strategy
  • Drive our marketing and communications teams
  • Drive our press strategy and outreach
  • Work with our team to create the marketing materials we use to explain our product offering

What You'll Accomplish

  • Set marketing goals and objectives
  • Plan, implement and manage marketing strategy parallel to organization’s strategy 
  • Contribute to the overall growth of the organization 
  • Review and manage content marketing strategy
  • Review and manage social media strategy 
  • Own WeVote branding 
  • Own internal communication with volunteers
  • Own external newsletter to users and supporters 
  • Determine KPIs for the marketing department and track against them 
  • Keep track of the marketing budget
  • Track KPIs on a regular basis and present results
  • Work with business development, product and other teams
  • Create and present the annual marketing plan and strategy
  • Use data and reports to make evidence-based decisions
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology and best practices 
  • Work with the team to design, plan and execute effective marketing campaigns

Your Background

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • 10+ years experience in marketing
  • Customer/user centric mindset 
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, HubSpot, WebTrends, SalesForce, etc.
  • Management of teams of 60 employees or more 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • BA in Marketing, or similar field 
  • Additional marketing certifications are a plus
Availability: At least 10 hours each week during our core team hours M-F 9 a.m. - 6 p.m PST with the ability to work 1-2 hours during Pacific Time overlap. Must be available to attend the Marketing team meetings and leadership meetings.
