We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Controls Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) to support application engineering related sales activities, drive customer engagement, and provide techno-commercial tailored offers for [control system solutions. This position offers those with a strong controls technical background with a passion to learn/enhance your skills in the technical and commercial skills and work with the sales, engineering, services, risk, and product teams to translate customer requirements into competitive and technically sound proposals that align with our global business objectives.
Job Scope:

The Controls Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) provides techno-commercial leadership on core & complex commercial transactions, working in close partnership with the Sales team to drive growth of controls product lines across the pole/region GE Vernova Power segment. This individual leads the end-to-end proposal development process with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, orchestrating and influencing key stakeholders (sales, engineering, product line, finance, risk, execution teams, among others) to define, optimize, and implement the overall technical and commercial deal strategy.

The Controls Commercial Application Engineer (CAE) reports to the Regional Commercial Operations Leader.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review customer specifications, drawings, RFPs/RFQs (Request for Quotations/Request for Proposals), and create tables of compliance.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for deals, providing controls application engineering support to customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Lead the Controls quoting process for both core and complex control system offerings.
  • Use quoting tools, technical libraries, and design standards to develop customized control system solutions.
  • Ensure accurate cost estimates and manage technical, execution, and commercial risks throughout the ITO (Invitation to Offer) process.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and external vendors to gather pricing for extended project scope.
  • Collaborate with sales and pricing teams to define competitive pricing strategies and consolidate deal financials.
  • Present deals for approval, manage tender schedules, and ensure timely submissions and readiness for order booking.
  • Lead proposal development, support customer meetings and negotiations, manage project handover to execution, and contribute to continuous improvement and KPI achievement.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, Controls, or power) plus 6+ years in engineering, application engineering, or field service for control systems.
  • Strong experience with Generator control ( Excitation / Static Starters),  Unit Control (Gas/Steam Turbine/Aero), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), HMIs, and cybersecurity.
  • Proficient with PC tools including MS Office, Salesforce, CPQ (Configure Price Quote), and other quoting platforms.
  • Willing to travel up to 20-30% for customer meetings and business development.
  • Skilled in commercial and contractual work, proposal/specification writing, and creative problem‑solving.
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to guide less‑experienced colleagues; may lead small, low‑risk projects.
  • Able to make decisions using multiple internal and limited external inputs; advanced degrees (Engineering or MBA) are a plus.
