Allwyn is a multinational lottery operator with leading market positions in Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Our primary focus is lotteries, which help raise money for good causes. We drive innovation, efficiency, and responsible gaming.

Allwyn North America is headquartered in Chicago. We currently operate the Illinois Lottery under a private management agreement while seeking other opportunities throughout the U.S.  We also provide products and services to lotteries and their players throughout Europe and the U.S.

Position Overview:

The Commercial Strategy Manager will report to the Director of Commercial Strategy and serve as the analytical and operational engine of the department. This role is responsible for project-managing proposal development for key contracts, conducting rigorous financial and market analysis, tracking organizational KPIs, gathering actionable consumer insights, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement, and communicating business performance and opportunities to senior leadership, the Shareholder,  and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of translating raw data into compelling strategic narratives that drive growth.

Responsibilities:

RFP & Business Development Execution 

  • Manage the day-to-day project lifecycle for State Lottery RFPs and government proposals, ensuring seamless coordination across internal stakeholders, SMEs, and external partners.
  • Conduct exhaustive competitive landscape analysis and market trend research to directly support the Director in formulating highly targeted win strategies.
  • Develop win strategies, business cases, and financial models to support new business pursuits. 
  • Draft, review, and refine critical proposal components, ensuring the messaging aligns with the overarching commercial strategy and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain an organized repository of proposal assets, market intelligence, and competitor profiles for rapid deployment in fast-moving bid environments.

Financial Modeling & Business Case Development 

  • Build, maintain, and stress-test complex financial models to support organic new business pursuits, revenue forecasting, contract pricing, and ROI projections.
  • Prepare detailed business cases and presentations, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI projections and strategic considerations.
  • Conduct detailed cost-benefit analyses and operational financial modeling to evaluate the viability of regional market expansions and product launches.
  • Assist the Director in providing localized financial analysis, data aggregation, and regional modeling support to the overseas Corporate Development team for M&A and partnership evaluations.

Performance Tracking & Executive Dashboards 

  • Build, maintain, and automate dynamic dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to monitor KPIs and OKRs across the business development and commercial Strategy portfolio.
  • Monitor baseline performance metrics daily/weekly, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, flagging risks, and making data-backed recommendations.
  • Design and produce clear, compelling charts, graphs, and other materials for communicating business performance and opportunities to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Consumer & Market Insights 

  • Aggregate, clean, and analyze consumer research, retail sales databases, and external market trends to uncover hidden revenue opportunities.
  • Assist in proactive data mining and market research to support the Director's and SVP of Business Development’s efforts in player segmentation, portfolio strategy, and product innovation.
  • Track macroeconomic indicators and relevant regulatory developments in the gaming/lottery space, summarizing key takeaways into actionable executive briefs.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial strategy, business development, management consulting, strategic finance, corporate strategy, market intelligence, or a related analytical field.
  • Demonstrated experience building financial models, business cases, forecasts, pricing analyses, ROI assessments, and/or scenario models to support strategic business decisions.
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and firm deadlines.
  • Experience supporting RFPs, competitive bids, government tenders, proposal development, or other large-scale business development initiatives strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and/or consumer analysis and translating findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, dashboards, reports, and strategic narratives for senior leadership or other key stakeholders.
  • Experience working within lottery, gaming, government contracting, regulated consumer products, consulting, or another complex or highly regulated industry preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Strategy, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field required.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and manipulation of large datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into concise, executive-ready presentations.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial, operational, consumer, and market data and identify meaningful trends and opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of KPI and OKR development, performance measurement, and dashboard reporting.
  • Experience gathering, cleaning, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Familiarity with consumer research, segmentation, market sizing, and competitive intelligence methodologies preferred.

  • Compensation:  The anticipated base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 annually, plus eligibility for a 20% annual performance bonus, based on achievement of company and individual performance goals
