The Mixpanel People and Culture team is the heart and soul of Mixpanel. We lead with care and empathy and deliver a high-touch employee experience to make Mixpanel a best-in-class, inclusive, and supportive place to work and an equitable environment for all employees to grow and advance. We are a data-driven organization with a deep regard for robust analysis in our DNA, which helps us understand trends and areas of improvement and focus. The People function acts as a critical advisor in driving a best-in-class employee experience, acting as strategic advisors to the executive team and senior leadership, and providing superior internal support while driving HR operational excellence.

About the Role
As a Compensation Analyst, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting Mixpanel’s compensation programs and analytics. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early-to-mid in their compensation career who wants to build deep comp expertise at a growing company, take ownership of meaningful work, and learn directly from senior leaders in People and Finance.
You’ll report to the Manager of Total Rewards & People Operations and work closely with the broader People team, Finance, and business leaders. While this role is focused primarily on compensation today, it offers strong exposure to how compensation strategy evolves as a company scales.
This role is ideal for someone who is curious, analytical, comfortable rolling up their sleeves, and excited to grow into a long-term compensation partner.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the execution and ongoing maintenance of Mixpanel’s compensation programs and processes
  • Partner with senior team members to analyze compensation data and provide insights that inform pay decisions, promotions, and workforce planning
  • Build, maintain, and audit compensation models, ranges, and benchmarking analyses using spreadsheets and internal tools
  • Assist with compensation cycles, including data preparation, validation, and analysis
  • Help map roles to external benchmark data and support market pricing exercises
  • Pull, analyze, and interpret people data (headcount, attrition, comp history, trends) to support decision-making
  • Create and update dashboards and reports to improve visibility into compensation and workforce metrics
  • Participate in compensation education efforts, including supporting manager and employee conversations
  • Ensure data accuracy across systems through regular audits and checks
  • Support ad hoc People and Total Rewards projects as needed

What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5 years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, People Operations, or a related HR role
  • Exposure to compensation concepts such as benchmarking, salary ranges, job leveling, or pay analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working extensively in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and people data (specific tools not required)
  • Ability to synthesize data into clear insights and communicate them to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfort engaging directly with managers and employees on compensation-related topics
  • A proactive, growth-oriented mindset — excited to learn, ask questions, and take ownership
  • Interest in working at a smaller or mid-sized company where you can have real impact

Nice to Have
  • Experience with compensation survey data (e.g., Radford, Mercer, Willis Towers Watson, or similar)
  • Familiarity with compensation tools or workforce analytics platforms
  • Background in a scaling tech company or high-growth environment
