We’re looking for a Compliance Manager I to support our Personal Auto business by monitoring legislative and regulatory activity, researching compliance questions, supporting new state entry, and ensuring policy forms and processes remain compliant. This role evaluates regulatory, statutory, and case law changes, determines business impact, and communicates requirements and recommendations to cross-functional partners and senior leaders.
What does a COMPLIANCE MANAGER do at GAINSCO?- Track new bills, regulations, and Department of Insurance (DOI) activity across assigned states.
- Assess changes and identify business impacts, risks, and required actions.
- Communicate updates and coordinate next steps with impacted teams and leaders.
- Research state laws/regulations in response to business partner questions.
- Provide clear, practical recommendations and documentation.
- Lead or facilitate compliance initiatives tied to law changes or identified compliance items.
- Manage timelines, stakeholders, deliverables, and implementation coordination across departments.
- Ensure assigned Personal Auto policy forms remain compliant with applicable laws/regulations
- Maintain ownership of assigned forms using established compliance processes (updates, version control, documentation).
- Research and analyze regulatory, statutory, and case law requirements for new state entry.
- Summarize findings in a user-friendly format to support Product/Claims/Marketing/Agent Appointment & Licensing teams.
- Inform development of rules, rates, forms, and business requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, with preference given to Law, Insurance, Finance, Statistics, Math, Accounting, or a related field of study.
Experience:
- 2+ years of Personal Auto insurance experience is required.
- Experience working with Personal Auto policy language and related insurance documents, including: Declarations page, named driver exclusions, cancellation/nonrenewal requirements, etc.
- Experience monitoring regulatory changes and providing compliance recommendations is required.
- Experience partnering with Product, Claims, and/or Marketing on implementation and/or business requirements.
Other skills and abilities:
- Strong knowledge of insurance compliance and how it impacts product/operations
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management—able to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives
- Clear, confident communication (written and verbal), including presenting to senior stakeholders
- Ability to translate complex legal/regulatory changes into actionable business guidance
- Ability to consider multiple distribution channels when evaluating product/rule impacts.
- Familiarity with West Law, Wolters Kluwer, LexisNexis or similar research platforms is preferable.
- Remote for non Dallas- Fort Worth, TX local candidates.
