Job Purpose

As a Composable & Headless Commerce Lead Architect within Astound Digital Practice, you will serve as a senior technical leader, driving the implementation of composable commerce solutions using modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript) and headless SaaS platforms. You will architect scalable, modular, and AI-driven e-commerce experiences, integrating seamlessly with API-first ecosystems (e.g., Scayle, Shopify, commerce tools, SFCC, Contentful, Amplience).

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including UX designers, product strategists, and engineers to deliver highly performant, personalized, and future-proof digital commerce solutions. Additionally, you will champion MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) and composable architecture principles, while exploring AI-powered enhancements in search, recommendations, and dynamic content delivery.

In this role you will get to

• Design and implement enterprise-grade, composable commerce frontends using React, Next.js, and headless CMS platforms, ensuring AI-ready architectures for personalization, search, and automation.
• Lead technical discovery and solution design for headless and composable commerce projects, integrating AI/ML-powered services (e.g., dynamic pricing, chatbots, predictive search).
• Architect API-first, cloud-native solutions leveraging MACH principles, ensuring seamless integrations with PIM, DAM, CDP, and AI-driven analytics tools.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to enhance e-commerce experiences through generative AI (e.g., product descriptions, content automation), recommendation engines, and NLP-powered search.
• Serve as a client-facing technical advisor, guiding enterprises on composable commerce strategies, AI adoption, and headless tech stack selection.
• Drive presales engagements, crafting proposals that highlight composable, AI-enhanced commerce solutions and their business impact.
• Mentor and upskill frontend teams on headless best practices, AI integration patterns, and performance optimization.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating emerging commerce tools, serverless architectures, and innovations.

Your skills and qualifications

Core Technical Expertise

• 5+ years in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js, with deep experience in headless commerce implementations.
• Strong expertise in MACH architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) and composable commerce platforms (e.g., commercetools, Shopify Plus, SFCC, Scayle).
• Experience integrating AI/ML services (e.g., Algolia, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, Salesforce Einstein) into e-commerce workflows.
• Proficiency in modern frontend tooling: Vite, Webpack, Tailwind, Jest, Storybook.
• Deep understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, serverless functions, and edge computing for scalable frontends.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Amplience, Strapi) and PIM/DAM integrations (Akeneo, Bynder).

Leadership & Consulting

• Proven ability to lead technical teams in composable commerce and AI-driven projects.
• Strong client-facing skills, capable of articulating AI and headless commerce benefits to C-level stakeholders.
• Experience in presales, solution design, and technical documentation for enterprise e-commerce.
• Agile/Scrum proficiency, with a track record of delivering complex, distributed projects.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Vue/Nuxt, Svelte, or other modern frontend stacks.
• Experience with AI-powered search & merchandising (Algolia, Bloomreach, Klevu).
• Knowledge of edge/CDN optimization (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Workers).
• Background in performance monitoring & observability (New Relic, Datadog).
