About the Role

We’re looking for a Contract Senior Technical Talent Sourcer, Engineering to help elevate how Customer.io identifies and engages exceptional engineering talent. You’ll join an established recruiting function and partner closely with recruiters and engineering leaders to strengthen our pipeline strategy and execution.

This is a sourcing-first role dedicated to Engineering to start. You’ll lead proactive talent mapping, generate meaningful pipeline, and bring real-time market insight into hiring decisions. You won’t be starting from scratch, but you will be expected to operate with ownership, judgment, and a clear point of view on how to improve the way we source.

You’ll often be an early point of contact for engineers considering Customer.io. Your work will directly influence the strength, depth, and long-term quality of our Engineering organization.

What We Value

Ownership: You take responsibility for pipeline health and hiring outcomes. You don’t wait for direction — you identify gaps, adjust strategy, and keep momentum moving.

Partnership: You work directly with recruiters and engineering leaders to shape search strategy and calibrate roles. You bring market perspective, ask thoughtful questions, and build credibility through insight and follow-through.

High standards with real output: You know strong sourcing requires both quality and consistency. You generate meaningful pipeline while staying thoughtful about who you’re reaching and why.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead sourcing strategy for Engineering roles, building high-quality pipelines through proactive outreach and thoughtful inbound review.
  • Conduct structured talent mapping across target companies and markets to identify strong engineering talent.
  • Partner closely with recruiters and engineering hiring managers to define candidate profiles, align on scope and seniority, and continuously refine search direction as new insights emerge.
  • Proactively engage engineering hiring managers to clarify expectations, surface constraints, and strengthen alignment throughout the search.
  • Engage passive engineers through personalized outreach and exploratory conversations before recruiter handoff.
  • Stay informed on engineering hiring trends, talent density, and evolving role expectations to continuously sharpen sourcing strategy.
  • Share insights on talent availability, market dynamics, and search feasibility to help refine hiring plans.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with engineering talent, even when no immediate role is open.
  • Maintain clean pipeline data and continuously improve sourcing effectiveness through data and feedback.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5-7+ years of experience in technical sourcing or recruiting, with significant focus on software engineering hiring.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and convert high-quality pipelines for senior+ engineering roles in competitive markets.
  • Strong understanding of engineering roles and leveling, with the ability to assess scope and relevant technical experience early.
  • Experience building strong working relationships with recruiters and hiring managers, influencing search strategy through insight and data.
  • Excellent written communication skills and a high bar for candidate experience.
  • Organized, data-informed, and comfortable managing multiple searches simultaneously.
Logistics
  • Hours: Full time - 40 hours/week
  • Location: Remote, located in the US
  • Contract: 6-months, with possible extension
  • Compensation: $75 USD/hour
Our Process

No gotchas, no trick questions — just a clear, human process designed to help both of us decide if this is a good fit.

  • 30-minute Zoom call with a Recruiter
  • 30-minute Zoom call with Recruiting Leader
  • 30-min Final Interview

All final candidates will be asked to complete a background check and employment verification as part of our pre-engagement process.

We strive to build an inclusive team culture, implement bias-free hiring practices, and develop community partnerships to expand our global impact.

Zoom is the only video conferencing platform we use for interviews, and offers will always be extended in writing on official Customer.io letterhead. If you have any questions about the role or our process, please contact [email protected].
