ServiceNow Developer
A ServiceNow Senior Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions on the ServiceNow platform. They work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable plans, ensuring the platform meets organizational needs, industry best practices, and technical standards. This role often involves architecting complex workflows, integrating with external systems, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Architecture
- Collaborate with business analysts, process owners, and stakeholders to understand business requirements.
- Design robust and scalable ServiceNow solutions aligned with best practices and platform capabilities.
- Develop technical requirements, solution outlines, and architectural diagrams.
Platform Development & Configuration
- Configure core ServiceNow applications (ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, etc.) to meet organizational requirements.
- Develop custom applications, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and automation workflows.
- Leverage and customize ServiceNow out-of-the-box functionalities for optimal performance.
Integrations & Data Management
- Integrate ServiceNow with external applications and third-party systems using APIs (REST/SOAP).
- Ensure data integrity through effective design of data models, transformation scripts, and data import sets.
- Monitor and maintain integration performance, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Conduct unit testing, peer reviews, and code reviews to ensure high-quality code.
- Collaborate with QA teams or perform functional testing to validate new features and functionality.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of test scripts and automated testing procedures.
Platform Maintenance & Governance
- Oversee ServiceNow instance health, including system performance and version upgrades.
- Implement governance processes and ensure adherence to standard development practices.
- Monitor platform usage, optimize performance, and maintain up-to-date documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, Certified Implementation Specialist) are highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- ServiceNow Expertise: In-depth experience with multiple ServiceNow modules (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, HR, CSM).
- Scripting Languages: Strong proficiency in JavaScript; familiarity with AngularJS or other frameworks for custom UI.
- Integrations: Understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and experience with integration platforms.
- Database Knowledge: Proficiency in SQL, relational database concepts, and data modeling.
- Web Technologies: Experience with HTML, CSS, and front-end development.
- Source Control: Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience implementing complex ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications.
- Prior involvement in platform upgrades, migrations, and major release implementations.
Additional Preferences
- Full Stack .net Development a plus
- Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and best practices.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies for software development.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
