We are seeking a Controller to lead all core accounting operations for a fast‑growing, private equity-backed SaaS organization. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee the integrity of the company’s financial statements, strengthen accounting processes and controls, and lead a high-performing accounting team - all while maintaining a hands-on approach to critical operational tasks.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead and manage all daily accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, accruals, and the preparation of journal entries in compliance with US GAAP.
- Oversee full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate cash flow management and strong customer/vendor relationships.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes - setting timelines, reviewing all deliverables, and performing key closing tasks directly as needed.
- Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and key management reports.
- Lead the accounting integration of acquired companies, including system migrations into NetSuite and alignment of accounting policies, processes, and controls.
- Partner with Client Success and Operations to define, document, and operationalize revenue recognition practices in compliance with ASC 606.
- Ensure accurate and timely revenue recording by overseeing revenue schedules, contract reviews, and system configurations supporting usage-based or subscription billing models.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit activities, providing documentation, and responding to inquiries.
- Partner with external tax advisors to ensure all federal, state, and local filings are completed accurately and on time.
- Own day-to-day banking and treasury management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Company insurance broker, driving annual renewals and managing claims.
- Develop, refine, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures that support scalability and operational excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Work closely with the CFO and Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business leaders to support operational decision-making and financial transparency.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes while maintaining high-quality day-to-day execution.
- Drive ERP system utilization and enhancements (NetSuite strongly preferred) to support business scaling.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar degree.
- CPA required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a senior, lead, or management capacity.
- SaaS industry experience required; exposure to private equity-backed environments strongly preferred.
- Strong command of US GAAP and the ability to apply it to both routine and complex transactions.
- Expertise in revenue recognition for SaaS as well as large, complex, multi-year services projects.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite highly preferred) and strong Excel capabilities.
- Experience automating manual processes and incorporating AI to improve department efficiency.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work hands-on when needed while maintaining strategic oversight.
