As our first in-house Controller, you will own all core accounting, reporting, and compliance functions while building the accounting foundation that scales with Profound’s growth. You will manage accounting operations end to end, partner closely with leadership on financial reporting and liquidity management, and safeguard our financial systems and controls.

What you’ll do
  • Own accounting, audit, and tax functions across the company

  • Work closely with our third-party accounting firm by reviewing deliverables, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring timely monthly closes

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor payments, invoicing, collections, and expense tracking

  • Review internal financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance

  • Implement and document accounting policies, processes, and internal controls

  • Lay the foundation for audit readiness and help evaluate external auditors and tax advisors

  • Maintain and optimize financial systems including QuickBooks and Ramp, and help plan for an ERP transition if necessary

  • Partner with leadership on cash forecasting, runway management, and financial reporting

Who you are
  • 10 or more years of experience in accounting, including at least 5 years of experience at a high-growth startup

  • Big 4 background in audit or accounting strongly preferred

  • Deep understanding of GAAP accounting, audit, and tax compliance

  • Strong hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly close, financial reporting, and systems management

  • Highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience building and leading an accounting team over time

  • CPA preferred

Location

This is an on-site role based in our NYC or SF office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $180,000 to $240,000 (NYC and SF). Profound’s total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process.
