About the role
Riot is building the next generation of digital infrastructure — a growing footprint of liquid-cooled, mission-critical data center campuses across Texas backed by a multi-gigawatt development pipeline. We're looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer to lead commissioning and project delivery on-site, keep our operations teams running day to day, and help grow the next generation of our controls organization.
This position will be based onsite in our Rockdale office. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.
What you'll do
- Lead on-site commissioning and project management across our active and upcoming deployments — including close-out, warranty resolution, and vendor management, which recur on every project we bring online
- Own commissioning and vendor management for new deployments as they come online, including projects as large as 200 MW
- Support monitoring, alarm thresholds, and controls integration for our liquid-cooled (direct-to-chip and immersion) infrastructure, working alongside our thermal and mechanical teams
- Lead hands-on, on-site troubleshooting and technical support for our operations teams
- Mentor and directly help develop junior controls team members, including team members transitioning into controls engineering roles
- As your on-site workload stabilizes, grow into reviewing — and eventually co-owning — our controls standards and governance documentation
What you'll have
- 5-8 years of controls engineering experience, with direct data center or other mission-critical infrastructure exposure
- Hands-on commissioning and vendor management experience (RFP review, PSA negotiation and execution)
- Strong working knowledge of EPMS and BMS/SCADA integration and commissioning
- Familiarity with industrial protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and OPC-UA
- Comfort owning incident response and change management for live, critical infrastructure
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Salary: Base range (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
- Long-Term Growth: Eligible to participate in Riot’s equity incentive programs and share in the success you help build.
- 401(k) Retirement Plan: Incudes a generous company match.
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Multiple medical plan options, including 100% company-paid plans.
- Wellness & Lifestyle Perks: Enjoy free gym memberships, pet insurance, childcare discounts, and more to support your life both in and out of work.
Riot is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
