thelab is looking for an experienced copywriter with a passion for digital advertising and social media to join the team. The ideal applicant is an innately curious copy nerd, a dexterous writer who can flex in tone and category, and a proactive sleeve-roller-upper, resilient when faced with change.

About thelab

We are an agency of makers with deep expertise in solving creative, production, and technology challenges. Our focus is on making better work, to help brands work better. We partner directly with clients to think big, build from scratch, and design for reality. From branding & design to e-commerce builds or anything in between, thelab mixes inspiration and hard work to produce results that drive business.

About you:

  • You love writing, wordplay, developing a brand tone, content trends, and making sure all the “i’s” are dotted and “t’s” are crossed when it comes to grammar, usage, and copy style.
  • You iterate copy lines and collaborate with design partners to refine a piece of creative until it’s tight as a drum.
  • You develop copy that nails the brief and brand voice ad campaigns across media including video, social, radio, email, site, OLA, print, (and anything else we can cook up together).
  • You’re a bold, conceptual thinker, storyteller, hole-poker, and what-iffer who understands how to put themselves in the shoes of a brand’s audience.
  • You love mixing it up—working on a lot of different projects with a variety of clients and tones.
  • You’re comfortable getting direction from clients, creative directors, and team members that will partially inform creative strategies that you will be expected to execute.
  • Feedback is a welcome exchange. You’re always open to improving your work with different perspectives, whether from clients or other team members.
  • When it comes to social media you are fluent and prolific—organic and paid, concept and execution, and you proactively stay current with cultural, creative, and industry trends.
  • You can juggle multiple projects at once while maintaining the highest creative standards.
  • You strategize with internal team members to anticipate problems, analyze solutions, identify alternatives, and suggest recommendations.
  • You’re intrigued, if mildly cautious, about the role AI and performance marketing can play in your writing efforts.

Experience:
● 3-5 years in advertising copywriting (or equivalent quality of creative work)
● Strong strategic and conceptual skills
● Excellent personal creative portfolio

Work spanning cross-channel ad campaigns, with depth in digital (display, search, social)
● Excellent teamwork and presentation skills

About the role:

  • Full-time role
  • Hybrid work environment with Tuesday-Thursday in the Madison Square office
  • Salary is $80,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
  • Benefits included unlimited PTO, Healthcare/Dental/Vision, 401k company match, and the best snacks in town

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
