Location: Southern Central Florida.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly.

Pay Range: $21/hr. (est. 72/hrs. per week).

Travel Requirement: Yes.

Teleworking: No.

 

***The role is based in a remote part of southern central Florida. All personnel will be required to live on-site, and meals and housing will be provided.***

 

Position Overview: 

We are seeking highly vigilant and professional Correctional Officers to maintain safety and order within the facility. In this crucial role, you will contribute to the facility's overall security framework by providing diligent monitoring and support, working in close collaboration with other staff to ensure the secure and orderly environment for all facility occupants and compliance with all established regulations and protocols. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent observational skills, and the ability to respond effectively to various situations.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility's external perimeters, including buildings, grounds, and access points.
  • Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter.
  • Operate and monitor security equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and communication devices, reporting any suspicious activity or breaches to supervisory staff.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches, working in conjunction with other correctional officers to de-escalate situations and assist with established protocols for managing incidents.
  • Perform thorough searches of vehicles, packages, and individuals entering or exiting the facility as per established protocols.
  • Assist other staff with the safe and orderly movement of individuals within the facility, maintaining constant vigilance and adherence to established procedures.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports on incidents, observations, and daily security activities.
  • Collaborate closely with other correctional officers and relevant personnel to ensure a secure and orderly environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Correctional Officer or equivalent certification. 
  • Must have experience as a Correctional Officer or similar role within the last three (3) years.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols within facility environment.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
