Business Insider is seeking an accomplished correspondent to join our award-winning enterprise team and produce impactful stories that readers can't find anywhere else.

Business Insider has long prioritized in-depth, revelatory journalism. You will collaborate closely with editors and reporters across our global newsroom to develop and execute some of Business Insider's most ambitious journalism, diving deep into the worlds of business, technology and innovation. 

You will be part of a team that has produced projects such as The True Cost of Data Centers, The Business of C-Sections, and an investigation that revealed how celebrity musicians received millions of dollars from a pandemic-relief program, prompting a federal investigation and new legislation.
You are someone with a track record in business journalism and are excited to do both quicker-turn enterprise stories and longer-term projects. Success is doing talk-of-the-town work that has impact. 

This role is union-eligible and is based in New York City or San Francisco, with an in-office expectation of three days a week. It reports to our Executive Editor for Enterprise, Jennifer Maloney.
All reporters at Business Insider have the opportunity to publish work and collaborate on joint investigations across the Axel Springer Global Reporters Network, which includes POLITICO, WELT, and BILD. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce revelatory journalism in the worlds of business, technology, and innovation with the aim of breaking stories that drive real-world consequences
  • Identify ambitious reporting targets 
  • Juggle long-term and short-turn efforts
  • Cultivate and maintain a network of sources, and source up fast in new areas as needed
  • Work with the graphics, photo, video, audience development teams to engage our audience and maximize our impact 

The ideal candidate has:

  • At least 10 years of experience in business or tech journalism, including a proven track record with investigative or enterprise work.
  • Deep understanding of the business and tech worlds and the ability to explain complicated issues clearly
  • A proven ability to deliver complicated, sensitive stories and handle anonymous sourcing
  • Experience using data sets, documents, or open-source reporting techniques such as social media tracking, geolocation, or satellite imagery
  • Strong storytelling instincts and excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A collegial approach to collaboration and a willingness to experiment
  • A commitment to journalistic excellence and integrity

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary: $110,000 - $150,000  (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
