About the role:

Curri is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve as the second attorney on the legal team and the CLO’s primary working partner across every legal domain the company touches. This is not a narrow specialty role: it is a true generalist seat with real ownership across commercial, compliance, employment, regulatory, and strategic matters from day one. You will build AI-enabled legal workflows, draft and negotiate agreements, develop compliance programs, and show up as a working partner to every function in the business. This position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer.

The ideal candidate is a practical, business-oriented lawyer with an affinity for AI tooling and strong legal ops development capabilities, who is comfortable with data-oriented strategic decision-making and operating in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment. Collaborating with business partners to implement practical programs and solutions that add value to Curri’s business will be essential to the role’s success.

What you will do:

  • Act as a true legal generalist for the business, covering commercial agreements, compliance programs, employment matters, regulatory questions, and strategic projects without staying in a narrow lane.

  • Manage Curri’s commercial contracting processes, including contract templates, playbooks, and workflows, and managing Curri’s contract database through a CLM solution.

  • Build AI-enabled legal workflows that replace manual processes and multiply your output across contracting, research, compliance tracking, and intake, bringing a builder’s mindset to how the legal function operates.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, and own the process improvements that make Curri’s contract operations faster and more scalable.

  • Serve as a trusted legal partner to cross-functional teams including Sales, Operations, Finance, Product, and People.

  • Develop and drive compliance programs from scoping through execution, creating work plans, engaging the right stakeholders, and owning follow-through to completion.

  • Support the CLO on high-stakes matters including outside counsel management, litigation support, regulatory response, and strategic initiatives, stepping in wherever the workload demands.

What you need to have:

  • JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in any US jurisdiction, with 4–9 years of experience across law firm and/or in-house roles.

  • Proven generalist range, able to move between commercial, compliance, employment, and regulatory work in a fast-moving environment without losing quality or needing to specialize.

  • Legal ops experience and an AI-forward working style evidenced by hands-on experience building or operating AI-enabled legal workflows that replace manual processes, not just using AI for occasional research queries.

  • Clear, direct communication with non-legal stakeholders, including the ability to convert complex legal analysis into practical guidance and build genuine working relationships across the business.

  • Self-directed and ownership-oriented, with a track record of identifying problems before being asked, creating your own work plan, and following through without significant management oversight.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with non-legal stakeholders

Bonus points for:

  • Experience designing or deploying legal ops infrastructure such as CLM systems, AI-assisted workflows, or intake automation.

  • Background at a high-growth or venture-backed startup where legal was a working function embedded in the business rather than a slow-lane approver.

  • Exposure to gig economy and logistics businesses.

What is in it for you?

  • The broadest legal seat at a company of this scale, with real ownership across every domain the business touches and direct influence over how the legal function is built.

  • A direct working partnership with the CLO and genuine autonomy over your work from day one.

  • Competitive salary, equity compensation, and comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision, 401K).

  • There is no work/life—there is only life and we want your time at Curri to be life-giving and foster the best version of you. We care about family and your own personal development. We expect hard work and commitment, and an intentional investment into our work community, but we don’t expect you to be always engaged with work.

  • We offer competitive pay, and benefits including, but not limited to, health, dental, vision, and 401K.

  • A high-growth, mission-driven environment where your work has direct and measurable impact.
